Jersey Shore

Sorry, got nuthin; every place around here that's anything close to exquisite is outrageously expensive.

The beach and harbor in Santa Barbara (I live close so it's free)

Niagra Falls, it was inexpensive when I honeymooned there 48 years ago.

The Snowy Range in Wyoming, breathtaking a beautiful drive. Not far from highway 80 about 40 minutes west of Laramie on highway 130. You can google it to see some of the views.

All my other travels were expensive.

I went to Niagara Falls in 1969 or 1970,the falls were shut off.

i'm not much of a traveler,i used to go to VA a lot ,along time ago,but that's about it.i just go to the beach,it's not far from here at all.

About 30 years ago I was living in NE Ohio, and me and a couple of buddies went to the FL. Keys for 2 weeks. Between the 3 of us we had a total of just under $300. Drove straight through there and back to skip motels. Lived in a tent while we were there. There was a greasy spoon near the campgrounds that had a bare bones breakfast for a buck. Knocked coconuts outta trees for snacks. Had 2 decent meals the whole time. Once we went to a seafood restaurant. The other time was when the guys in the tent next to us invited us for dinner. They had been out walking around in the surf, and one of the guys felt something crawl across his foot. Looked down, and it was a lobster. Between the 3 of them, they ended up grabbing 30 lobsters. (they were pretty small, but very tasty) The guy that owned the campground gave them a great big pot to cook them in. They provided the lobster, we provided the butter, beer, and reefer. The Key were WAY different back then. Today there is a Coca Cola bottling plant where the campground was. We got most of the way home before we had to stop and panhandle for an afternoon to get enough gas money to make it the rest of the way. By far the cheapest vacation I have ever had!!

I used to take the kids to 'my private beach" in Burlington, VT. You go down Starfarm RD until you hit the bike path and then there's a look out rest spot with steep stairs going down to the beach. I have pics of it on the other computer. The water was shallow for about 50 yards and the view couldn't be beat of the mountains across the lake. Water was crystal clear and lots of driftwood to play with. THE place to go when my girdle was in a bit of twist and needed some adjustment. Learning how to relax and dance with the universe is hard work I tell ya!

We had an inexpensive trip to the Keys right after Andrew hit, my current husband had a friend who lived on the Keys with the tame deer, can't remember which one anymore. We stayed with him and his wife for a few days, we originally flew in to visit my mother who lived in Pompano Beach so we drove down. His house was on the ocean but didn't have any damage from Andrew.

My advice is to have friends and relatives in great places.

I spend a lot of time there.

That word "exquisite" got me also. I have sat on the top of Mt. Whitney, hiked the Appalachian Trail twice, the Maah Daah Hey Trail in ND, and once while I was sleeping had my tent buried in snow in the Sheldon Nat. Wildlife Refuge in northern Nevada, left my car sit for a day or two during a flood near Hart Mt. Nat. Wildlife Refuge in south Oregon while I hiked to a campsite, had my tent almost stomped by Moose in the backwoods of New Hampshire, and once almost got washed away by a mountain stream crossing in the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming, all inexpensive but probably not what most mean by exquisite. In short I like camping, being outdoors (unless in tent), staying out of traffic, tourist mobs, noise, etc. Both the Sheldon and Hart Mt. Refuges have hot springs by the way and had no fee for camping there.

Once while doing some volunteer work on one of the Apostle Islands some people that still had inholdings gave us a fine evening dinner of fresh caught lake trout, beer, liquor, etc. in appreciation of our work. That was pretty good of them.
