...so angry that you feel it in the pit of your stomach?

Two things do it for me:  First:  People wasting their lives to drugs is one.  I want to take their heads and put them through the wall. I Have a family full.  It really is something in the genes.

Second, the war in Iraq.  Ten years later and I still can't even think about it without going berserk--how Bush/Cheney led us exactly where they wanted us to go, how they lied about what was going on , how they ignored the inspectors, how they completely changed the purpose of the war because they didn't want to look stupid when they didn't find WMD, and how they thought they could get away with it because they thought the American people were stupid.  AAGGHH!!!!

Please don't misunderstand me, French.....I am not saying there were no grounds for Mr. Zimmerman's actions. And I understand he did the right thing by calling the cops first. And I don't have many doubts about the assault that went on...on both sides. I am grateful I am not on that jury. I just mean that a judge will usually rule the past actions of a victim out when presenting a defense. Mr. Zimmerman's fate will have to be determined by what happened that precise moment.....nothing else.
Here in VA, a man recently caught a young man breaking into his house. The homeowner was an ex military man who was in possession of a gun. He gave the intruder a verbal warning, but when the young man kept coming, the homeowner shot him. The intruder was wounded, and attempted to flee the scene, but fell not far from the house he had broken into. He survived, but there is a huge stink going on right now over whether or not that homeowner had a right to possess a firearm, and whether or not he had the right to discharge it. So, the intruder is getting medical treatment ( quite possibly courtesy of the American taxpayer), and the homeowner is being sued by the boy's family, and is fighting charges that are being threatened against him. His gun has been confiscated. So......who's in the right here? Here is a case of someone's intentions being quite clear.....and still the victim of his crime is the one who's taking all the heat.
Life just doesn't make sense sometimes.

i don't know the rules in va. karin so i can't really comment on that all that much except to say that where and how you were shot plays a big part .. in other words was the intruder shot in the back ?? if that was the case then he would have been considered no longer a threat because he was retreating ..however if he was shot in the front of his body and in his house i'd think that castle doctrine would come into play .. if he was shot inside but went outside then was there any blood inside his house ?? if not then it can get sticky cause the intruder can claim he was retreatin and got shot outside .. so without knowin all this i can't say .. i'm sure tho if and when it does go to trial if the intruder had priors for doin b &e's that will be takin into consideration . which brings me to zimerman and martin .. i think what martin did is pertinent .. just hear me out tho .. if you're arrested for a dwi the first time you might get a hefty fine and maybe lose your license for 6 months or get a work license which lets you go back and forth to work but no further .. if you get caught anywhere out of where you're suposed to be then they lift your license for a year and maybe even give you jail time .. now if you get the second dwi the fine is stiffer .. and you might get a few weekends in jail along with a 2 year revoked license .. a third time .. maybe 3 to 6 months in jail and revoked license for 10 years.. so if what you did prior to that incident doesn't count why do they make the fines stiffer and stiffer ?? i think the same goes for robbery 1st offence and 2nd offence and 3rd offence .. or how about a sex offender ??  thats even worse .. so why would it be any different with an anger management issue or crimes of violence ?? if thats what you're prone to do why shouldn't that be pertinent to the case ?? far as i know if a crime has been committed the first thing they want to know about is priors .. why ?? because it shows a pattern . is this an isolated incident or par for the course for this individual ?? i agree that life don't make sense sometimes which is why i'm sayin as loud as i can .. LET ALL THE FACTS ABOUT BOTH PARTIES COME OUT AT THE TRIAL .. DON'T TRY TO CHERRY PICK WHAT CAN AND CAN'T BE HEARD ..  it does our justice system a great disservice ..

i'm not taking sides on this, but there is something being overlooked,i've seen many times, where they give a person just the tiniest bit of authority to someone who doesn't know how to handle it,,and it goes straight to their head,i've dealt with those scumbags many times in my life, the ones that think they're better than everyone else because they have a badge and/or gun.maybe zimmerman was one of those, maybe not.

i know what you mean flipper and i've encountered people like that too and at first thats what i thought zimmerman was too .. they tried to paint him as some yahoo cowboy but after learnin more about him i found that wasn't the case .. at least not from what i've been able to find out so far which is why i want everything to come out .. i do know he was doin his neighborhood watch thing for about 7 or 8 years in that complex he lived in and in that amount of time he called the cops a total of 44 times i think it was which would come out to a little more than once every couple of months and in all that time there was never any incidents like this .. i'd think if he was some guy who it went to his head somethin woulda happened long before this .. cause like you i don't like them types either and neither does a lot of other people .. so i'm sure words woulda been had and maybe more than that long before trevon showed up on the scene ..

You have a point, Tim, but French.....I agree with you.  I'm not clear as to why these things matter in a case such as murder, but they do.  A good lawyer will argue that Mr. Zimmerman had no knowledge of this boy and what he was or was not guilty of in the past.  Right or wrong.....that's what they would have said.

You know and I know, French, that we wouldn't be discussing this at all if it hadn't been for the fact that race and guns were involved.  Two black boys get into it in an alley in Chicago, and no one hears a word.  Are their lives any less precious?  Because they have been living a less-than-pure life....does that mean they deserve what they get?  Some would say yes.  And no fancy-schmancy lawyer comes to their defense.  It happens every single day in Chicago.  We never see any of it in the news.  And with the anti-gun fever going on right now, that just puts fuel on the fire.  I'm curious.....if that young man in California had lived.....and been arrested......would we all be concerned when it went to trial....maybe two years down the line?  The press seems to like to make issues out of some cases more than others.  There's always an agenda somewhere there underneath.  And I reiterate......no matter how this goes......it goes poorly.

"Two black boys get into it in an alley in Chicago, and no one hears a word.  Are their lives any less precious?  Because they have been living a less-than-pure life....does that mean they deserve what they get?"

Exactly, Karin.  It's a shame the way the US has turned it's back on thousands and thousands of people, letting them run wild, have lousy education, kill each other, have babies and abortions, no families to speak of, and we do nothing. But we are rebuilding Iraq and Afghanistan. WTF?

i agree with both of you , karin and cresty .. and i've said the same thing but here's the thing . this whole thing has been like a big magic show with the media hype and the way its been playin out .. and a good magician will always use misdirection to fool you .. he'll keep you lookin left lookin left and lookin left and then whamo outta his right hand comes a gaggle of geese or somethin .. well they been misdirectin us from the start by callin zimmerman a racist .. cause after all if it was just two black kids shootin each other its not news so they had to play that racist angle and make that work .. so when they hired crump he got the wheels turnin and out popped al sharpton and jesse jackson and it was on .. they even had obama chimin in he looks like he coulda been my son .. and then the grievin parents wailin away on tv on every show that would have them .. and the first thing that came to my mind was zimmerman says he ain't a racist where are all his black friends now ?? and then that weekend not one or two but three black people were on the today show all sayin they knew zimmerman and all sayin he is not a racist .. this is not a racist thing .. and that caught my eye .. from that point on i needed to know more about both paties to understand this whole thing . because the whole black community was marchin in the streets and these 3 black people went against the tide to say what they knew about zimmerman .. now if they could dispel the racist angle there wouldn't be this sensational story anymore ..but that didn't seem to stop the media blitzkrieg that was on .. and every damm day they kept showin that picture of treyvon as a 12 year old and it made me think for a couple of parents who loved their son so much and cell phones with camera's in em everywhere do you mean to tell me they couldn't find a more recent picture of treyvon ?? and then the answer to that was they didn't want you to see recent pics of him .. cause that wouldn't play into their poor little black kid shot walkin while black .. cause in recent pics he looks more like a thug .. they sealed his school records too yet said he was a good student and was gonna go on to do somethin with planes when he grew up .. even went as far as to say he was an honor roll student ..and as anyone who knows you can't be suspended 3 times in 5 months and be an honor roll student .. but that didn't stop the look left look left look left blitzkrieg that the media had goin on .and i think a lot of that was fueled by the stand your ground law ( and to be honest i'm on the fence about that .. thats a completely different post because he's not usin that anyway .. he's usin self defense ) it even rose to the point where the black panthers put out a warrant for him dead or alive and said if the white establishment won't prosecute him they would .. and the bounty was 1 million dollars .. far as i know there were no arrests for that .. so the racist thing had worked .. of course none of it would have if they had simply reported that treyvon attacked zimmerman and could have killed him had zimmerman not shot him .. nobody wants to consider that story because the family and crump has too much invested in the poor little kid shot walkin while black .. before this is over there will be a lawsuit against the city of sanford .. the sanford police .. the housing complex where it happened and george zimmerman too .. and anybody else crump can lump in there .. so its in his and the families best interest to have everyone thinkin this is racism .. when its a simple case of self defense .. and i've said this before and i'll say it again .. if george zimmerman was black and treyvon was white i'd still be fightin for what i think is right .. you can't attack someone and then say you got shot because of racism when the simple truth is it had nothin to do with racism .. some people just don't like gettin beaten to death .. and they shouldn't have to have to take it .. and there's still a lot more to this that most people don't know .. but i'll stop here for now ..

you're confusing two separate phases of justice. at a trial, priors and history aren't admissable due to the  'well he did it before it musta been him again' factor but at a sentencing, priors are taken into account. that's why some states could legally pass the three strikes sentencing. kinda like with kids if a short timeout doesn't work, the timeouts get longer. in some cases, the adult timeouts are permanent

i don't get really angry,i don't have the time.

yea,you get it.

at the moment, i'm really p-o'd about the fact i spent 150bucks to get my sewing machine repaired and it's doing the same thing that they allegedly fixed!!  they and it were called some very un-nice names by me.... tomorrow, back to the shop it goes.....  as for world problems and such, short of taking things into our own hands-and which those that do, never have a good ending...  we can get annoyed and irked by the politicos and the solution is to vote (and that is the extent of my political stance...) and even then some folks are still gonna be upset... and people that have the bad habits, well, pretty sure they know it's not good and again they have the choice to keep at it or take steps to change(ya, it ain't easy but can be done)...  so what's the point of us getting all bothered by something not in our own control??

geee what pisses me off? a list...headed by willfully-chosen blatant ignorance and stupidity...but then i live only12 miles from Idiotville...some recent examples?..a woman telling me that unions were the downfall of the united states. cause it was unions that a) caused companies to outsource all manufacturing....b) it was unions who elected obama (even tho the unions account for only about 7 per cent of the employment force these days)..and c) teachers and people like that shouldn't be allowed to have unions (guess we aren't sposed to ask questions about civil rights and freedoms huh? that means her perfect worlds was during the 1700's when you could be HUNG for even discussing unions that being a time of fucking rampant freedom and profit for the average person donchaknow?)

..or a minister who also is an oil company engineer telling me there really should never have been social security. people should have to take care of themselves and fund their own retirement and medical etc etc.  and that there were 40 million people on social security disability..and lots of them is furriners who never paid into the system...he got a little embarrassed when i pointed out his own son was on social security disability and medicaid..that his wife works for a charity that just happens to make HIS truck payment...that his working overseas means he was absolved from much of the income tax and he was above the threshold where social security taxation ends so he was getting free stuff ...that furriners can't get social security....and that the vast majority of social security recipients are retired american workers and that is followed by disabled american workers, widows etc etc... guess it was over the top to tell him "stop believing those forwarded hysterical teaparty emails and fuck you and your bullshit norman"
