What's been the BEST thing for you about growing older.

We all know the worst things, lol, but getting to this age has helped me in so many ways. Wayne said he doesn't need speed anymore.  I don't need drama anymore.  I was the drama queen--thought I was dead if my blood wasn't running wild.  I still like the occasional surge, still like to be in the thick of things, but I also enjoy feeling peace and comfort.

What I like best is that I can go out with a woman in her fifties, lure her into my home, and be excited about the prospect of sex with 'young stuff'.

Also the fact that I'll be 68 years old in 2 1/2 weeks and I'm still immature. I've managed to skip most of life's lessons.

so far i can't say all that much positive about it .. i'm probably the exact opposite of you t .. when i was younger i just went chargin in and made decisions and went with em .. just shot from the hip .. and for the most part my first thought was right or close enough .. and because of it i was usually the one they picked outta the bunch to be the supervisior so it worked out for me then ..but the older i get the more i find myself second guessin myself and wonderin if i can still do this or that .. when i was younger i wouldn't think twice ..so on the one hand i'm a lot more cautious .. and at my age probably not a bad thing .. it might just save my life at some point .. but i can't help but wish for the good old days when i didn't shive a git about anything .. of course i have to admit that i was lucky a bit too .. i'm sure some of the stupid shit i did coulda turned out a lot worse ..

This song makes me think of my husband as well.  He did things in his youth, had his fun, paid his dues, and now he can't do those things anymore because of an increasing disability.  What a poignant song.

And my father, literally a man of iron.

Lot's of truth in that song that we can relate too .

Funny you brought this subject up because Its been on my mind lately...For one thing I guess I am just grateful to BE older. When I was a young mom waking up sometimes to painful days when I could barely get out of bed, I wondered if I would ever live to see my children grow up and have children of their own. (I wasnt dying as I thought but went undiagnosed with Lyme Disease until I was in my early 40's). Well, I lived long enough to see my kids grow up with little to NO problems some parents struggle with. I was lucky there BUT I am NOT so sure I will see grandchildren in this lifetime. SUre would be AWESOME though. I've dreamed of it since my oldest was born 28 years ago!!

Even though I have been thinking about it, I cant think of anything specific to getting older per se although for reasons I cant put my finger on it...I LIKE it but I'm a bit different than many of you whereas....I never worked outside the home, never thought I would i guess so I never truly prepared for what I would do "WHEN I grew up". When I got divorced and the money started running out, my first job ended up being what I was MEANT to do....take care of the elderlly. I will probably work til I die or till my clients are OLDER than ME....LOL!!

I like being able to do what I want when I want like many of you mentioned but FOR ME I dont think thats because I'm OLDER but because I am SINGLE!

The fact that I am still alive and  still in reasonable sound mind and body.

With all the stupid things I've done and the way my body has been abused...I am always amazed and thrilled with the age I am.

The best thing for me is probably developing a sense of who and what I am and not really caring what others think of me.

i'm stiil a show-off,i always was.

YES, ME TOO!!! BLITHESPIRIT...."The best thing for me is probably developing a sense of who and what I am and not really caring what others think of me."

i don't have kids..or even grandkids..i'm single again,ready to take on the world.i'm batman.

You have a lot of good years ahead of you, Tim.....live them to the fullest!

i lived life to the fullest, anything left is an added bonus.
