TBD

TBD on Ning

I am starting my Spring break right now...I know some of ya'll have been teachers and some of you still are, so I know you can appreciate the feeling.

This got me to thinking about relaxation...even if we don't work a job everyday, I imagine we all have a routine we might like to take a break from...

What kinda things help you flip that switch from work mode to vacation mode...

For me, I like a change of scenery...I like to go places...do different things...sometimes travel.

I like going to the beach...it's a short drive doesn't cost a lot of money and quite relaxing...sometime I get a room, sometimes just a day drive.

I also like working in the yard sometimes..planting stuff...digging stuff up...kind of relaxing.

I think the picture taking you like is a type of relaxing...right?

Not having to get dressed and made up  up everyday, not having to think about 120 other people and what I'm going to teach them, a long leisurely morning coffee, being oustide anywhere anyhow, taking naps when I want to, staying up late and getting up late are the things that make time off work relaxing.

The biggest relaxation is not having to feel responsbilbe for anything.  Sigh.  I'll never take another long term assignment again, ever!

I still teach but only online now so there are no traditional breaks.  But in a week or so I will be down to only one course and will have time at least for April. Summers I usually travel west and backpack in the mountains of Wyoming or somewhere and summer before last worked there for four months. But around home I like to garden, cut firewood, outside stuff. Tomorrow I may snowshoe out to the woods and about a mile or two and look at animals and animal sign if the sun is out and it at least feels above freezing.

Shadowman, I may ask you in the future about how to get a job teaching online, but not now because I am in the midst of daily hell which will end in June.  I thought I'd be working for five weeks, but it turned into the rest of the year.  Bad for my health, good for my pocketbook, never again.

Beach walks do it for me, can't help getting relaxed walking on the hard sand and letting the waves rush over my feet, the smell of the ocean and the sounds of the birds and waves. The water is always different in color, sometimes diamonds other times wild. It's all good.

I love travel but going to Chicago to check on my mom and see friends and family, while nice, is NOT my idea of relaxation.  Getting away last year on a cruise, going to the North Georgia mountains earlier this year - THOSE were vacations that combined a change of scenery and relaxing and getting away from it all!

Sounds good.  I have been in the area from Amicalola Falls State Park in Georgia north to Hiawassee and northbound a couple of times. I have never been on a cruise though.

I stayed in a cabin in Hiawassee in January, Sandman.  It was great, but had to leave a day early because of a snow/ice storm moving in the next day when I was supposed to leave.  I didn't have any desire to try to drive in that!

well heck you can probably get some great deals on a carnival cruise about now....

vacations are good, but only having a meager 3 weeks of vacation, it's kinda like why bother? but i am going to FLA next month for one of those weeks!  i usually don't take whole weeks off, prefer to take a bunch of long weekends over the summer. sometimes just getting outta Dodge for a night is enough to break the daily routine...

like Cresty says, not getting dressed up and all is a treat in itself.

What part of Florida will you be visiting, Lucinda?  There are some of us in all areas of the state, just about!

lol....  fort myers, the keys, up to melbourne, back to fort myers...  probably cover more miles on the ground down there then the flight from boston!  where abouts are you?
