When the worm turns.

huh?

Hi, Susan! Welcome!

The first thing you have to take into consideration is what has been the worming protocol for the colt/filly from age 3 months onward. The schedule and the effectiveness and appropriateness of the previous wormings (and the results of previous fecal egg counts), and the present condition of the colt/filly, determine when and with what you will worm going forward.

My best advice is to consult your local veterinarian before doing anything. Your veterinarian can advise you on the colt's/filly's present condition, how often to worm, what dewormers to use, and how often to rotate anthelmintics.

Also, you can do some reading just to get yourself up on the whole issue, which is multifacted--but be sure only to go to veterinary schools or well-established sources to do so. Here's one reliable source: http://www.thehorse.com/articles/30888/sustainable-equine-parasite-...

Thanks, Angharad.  That is very helpful info. I will check out that website.

You're very welcome, Susan. There's nothing more important than safeguarding the well being of those we love.

XOXOXOXOX
