A thread to ask whatever we're wondering about.

I know we can do this individually in Q&A, but this thread can be akin

to Random Thoughts in Games, only queries.

Feel free to include the answer to your question, or not.

You girls have been falling for the "bad boy", the rugged, dangerous, don't give a shit guy since the beginning of time. While some finally come to their senses, there is no good answer as to why.

An 18-wheeler is crossing a 4 kilometer bridge that can only support 10,000 kilograms and that's exactly how much the rig weighs. Halfway across the bridge a 30 gram sparrow lands on the cab, but the bridge doesn't collapse. Why not?

Superman appears from no where and holds the bridge up long enough for the rig to clear it there by saving the bird, truck and it's contents. Buck Owens wrote a country song about this very incident which occurred on a logging road in rural Georgia in 1960.

Wrong. The truck had a shipment of Kryptonite so Superman could not get close enough to assist. Also the Justice League, Legion of Doom, Superfriends, or flying monkeys are not involved.

What about the flying pigs?

Did the hawk swoop down and grab the sparrow in that itsy bitsy millisecond before the sparrow had fully landed?

Beyond that, I am afraid that Math and/or Physics may be involved and I don't get myself caught up in either of those things :)

ooooo, wait, I think I know...er...maybe not..

How many miles are in a kilometer? A little less than one?

Still, an 18-wheeler...hum...

Quinn gets a grade of "C" for turning in an answer that at least cites physics - Bob Stepp gets an "F" for mentioning country music.

I need to go for the "A", I have been accused of being an over-achiever...

Does the answer have to do with the distance travelled and the amount of fuel a rig of that size would use?

I think it has something to do with fuel useage or even tread wear on the tires. that sparrow doesn't weigh much.

Right - the truck will use more than 30 grams of fuel by traveling halfway over the bridge. So when the 30 gram bird lands on the truck it will be under the weight limit.

I knew that. I just got it confused with train A leaving station B and train C leaving station D with Sparrow E flying at 40 MPH  etc., etc., and so on.......

Was the sparrow flying north or south and was it eating apples?
