Everyone is excited about the demonstrations across the country complaining about corporate greed but can anyone tell me exactly what solutions are being offered by the protestors. What do they suggest we do about it?

Michael, not understanding is a symptom of what is wrong with this country and what the occupy movement is about. One percent of the people in the U.S. control almost 50% of all the money which means the other 99% are left with little or nothing. Wall Street is the symbol of this but not the whole problem

It's about lack of control. It's about feeling helpless. It's about not being able to understand what is happening. It's about the people in charge not following the same set of rules as the people they are in charge of. It's about human endevors becoming so complicated that few can keep up.

It's about the fact that the lower economic class is growing rapidly and so is the top economic class while the middle shrinks and is elongated. And no one seems to really understand why, or what to do about it. It is about the expansion and acceleration of communication so that people are bombarded with more information than they can possibly assimulate. It is about the fact that most of the mass media is now owned by a few who are using it to brainwash the masses. it is about the marriage of religion and big business. It is about the governments misuse of money. The promises that have been made in the form of contracts between the people and the government that are now about to breached. It is about the fact that the average net worth of elected federal representives is $3,800,000 while the average net worth of the people they represent is less than $100,000.  It is about the fact that the CEO's of major Corportions make about 300 times as much as the average employee. It is about the lack of customer service. It is about telephone trees that go no place. It is about endless commutes for people who have jobs. It is about not being able to afford health care that people see others getting for free. It is about the decline of workers rights. It is about the lucky ones who have jobs having to work 50/60 hour weeks to make ends meet. it is about all the advertisments for things that people can not afford, but are offered credit, with no supervision, and no instruction, until they have no choice but to declare bankruptcy.   It is mostly about anger about all of the above.

Sorry, but I don't have any answers. I think maybe #1toolmaker does.

Great responce, Robbie. Thank you. If Mr. Clubb can't understand that then he is as blind as all the other one percenters.

CWO3ROBBIE,

FINALLY! Finally someone answered my question. Thank you. I think you should consider putting that in an article/essay and publishing it where other uninformed people like myself will be able to read it and come to their own conclusions. There are markets across the country that would be interested in doing so. Anyway, now that I have an idea of the motivations, don't you think that a manifesto, a list of demanded accomplishments would be in order? Something to focus on and change one piece at a time. It's the 'baby steps technique'. If, for example, there was a real list of demands, then we could  grab on to the most important and focus all the attention on changing that one to everyones satisfaction and once done, go to the next one on the list. That much attention focused on one item is bound to be effective.  I believe that if this isnt done, the protest is bound to fail. It is, like a mentioned earlier, a lot like screaming at the sky because of the rain. We need to actually start building some waterproof alternatives.

Anyway, thank you for your excellent response.

WOW!!!

I think everyone wanting a solution to the OWS movement really needs to watch this documentary. It explains the problem in detail anyone can understand. and Isolates it to a solvable crisis...

thank you for the informtion toolmkr

OK tool, I watched this film. Guess I'm a lot denser than I realized. i think I understand what you are professing is going on in the world. But you say it isolates it to a solvable crisis. I'm not sure that I understand that part. What is the solution? Could you please spell it out for those of us who still don't understand what we can do.

Is this film what started the OWS movement?

PLEASE!

It shows how Corrupt Business's and Banks not just influence our Government, but actually control it. If were ever going to get a handle on it, we've got to understand that. The true architecture is not as it appears. Like the man says in the beginning of the  movie. We need to realize we can elect all the Burger King managers we want, but until we realize it's the franchise manager that's the problem, we'll never solve it.

This is still doable, they're very afraid of our vote. They control the Government, they control the media, they control our food, and they pretty well control us in every way except our vote. We want our liberty back, were going to have to see past they're control, and they're empty promises they make through they're puppet politicians they put up, that's how they control us. The solvability of the OWS crisis,  lies in our power to regain control of our Government. Wall Street is beyond our reach, but Congress is not if we replace them with representatives that will bring back control over Wall Street, instead of getting in bed with them for personal gain. Wall Street has a lot of power to corrupt our Congress, but we have more power to control Congress than we do Wall Street, And Congress has the power to Control Wall Street if we force it to do so. It's up to us, but the OWS movement is misguided if they think they're going to have any effect at all on Wall Street, they've got to take Control of Congress first, and force Congress to eliminate it's cooperative corruption with Wall Street.
