Dostoevsky. Crime and Punishment. I read it as a kid, then picked it up again on this trip. (This time son was reading it.) Absolutely rivetting.

I just finished Infidel (what a brave woman!) and was ready to start on Satanic Verses (S. Rushdie) before I was diverted. Next I just MUST re-read The Brothers Karamazov. Theres a reason this stuff is classical.

What about you? What's in your reading pile?

I'm afraid I can't dazzle you with any lofty high minded reading lately. I did pop $2 today for the local paper though. Lots of ranting and raving about the elections....how China is sucking the economic life blood out of America by the choice of Americans...Ads for things I will never need...Crappy advice from Dear Abby or whomever....Interesting stuff about why aliens can't live just anywhere...Oh, and the obits...just to make sure I wasn't listed.
Jaylee almost finished reading this one, if you want to catch up on current events.

I think I heard about this on the history channel......;-)
Just a side note...my elementary school in Oslo Norway was actually used as a German bunker during the war....yes, I'm nearly that old!
My error....it was used as a German POW barracks....*I'm still old....;-(*

My Grand Father had German POW's working on the farm during WWII. They busted up and hauled rocks to build County roads. Some of them returned after the war and settled in Texas.
I am reading Freedom by Jonathan Franzen.
Everyone is giving it rave reviews so I decided to get sucked in, even though I've never been a fan of his writing. I'm about 200 pages in, I'll give it another 50 before I return it to the library...
