........point to certain items, and announce, to no one in particular, "my doctor said I can't eat that"?

 

Geez, I used to hate it...getting behind people who did that.  I always wanted to tell them "why don't ya just take what your doctor says you can eat, and move on!".

 

Now I'm the one telling total strangers in line what I can't eat.

Yep, I'd go pretty hungry if I waited for an empty line at our local Golden Corrale. Since I don't mind what I eat first (except for dessert) I'll go to the section with the least amound of people. Buffets must be pretty popular with us older crowd. KC gets upset with me when I poke fun at the old people who are slow getting around. I lapped an old dude the other day, I got my food, sat down and ate it, got up for more and he was just returning to the table with his first plate. lol. I know, God will get me one day.

One of the least appetizing ideas I'd ever heard in my life was "Mexican Buffet" - Until a new joint opened up here last year, called "Maya". Good Lord, but it's good. Serious Mexican food, home-made mole`, fresh fish and hand-made tortillas...None of that Taco Bell crapola...

Now I'm hungry.

I have lots of food allergies so I would be one of those people standing there looking at things, I don't tend to say out loud I can't eat this or that I tend to look at it, wrinkle my nose, hen shake my head and put it back.

We have a lot of buffets put on by various fundraising groups here. I'm in hog heaven when I can get to the city and go through one of those real slick professional lines. The best buffet I've ever been to....why that would have to be at KFC....unlimited original recipe chicken, potatoes and gravy, and best of all...giblets! Yum! Uh, wait a minute...those are all items my doctor says I can't have now. Darn it!

Nah, I don't do that, I can eat almost anything. But I am the annoying old biddy who says "How about some vegetables?" to the kids who are piling on tater tots, fries, mashed potato and macaroni with their fish stick. They will all grow up to be Stir.
*Sigh. It's hopeless.*
