Household Hints, home remedies....things to make out life easier

Do you have a special item you rely on to get that stubborn stain out...any home remedies? Wth the rising cost of everything...are there things you now make at home instead of buying them...any shortcuts in cleaning things.

I have been using vinagar and water recently.it helps for me.

I've done the same thing, stain stick spots and when the laundry is done see a spot I have missed....that item then becomes a rag, or something to wear when I doing some dirty cleaning.

I also use the Scotch-Brite 3M scrub sponges. I buy the 6 pack and then cut them in half. They will then last twice as long, easier to handle, take up less space on the sink and dry much quicker- which cuts down on bacteria growth.

Spray 'n Wash does help if you remember to use it. I also carry a Tide stick in my purse, because it never fails that when we're out eating that I'm the one who drops food on her blouse. It works rather good - better to have a small wet spot then a tomato stain or greas stain. If you miss both of these Clorox 2 in with the wash also helps remove stains and keeps colors brighter longer.

I love those Tide sticks. I get them for the whole family to carry (well, everybody over 16, lol) so often I should buy stock in the company. If I could only get the younger kids to use them... lol

Did you know that storing candles in the freezer...or at least putting them in the freezer hours before you use it....makes the candle burn slower and last longer.

And one good old fashioned laundry pretreater is 'Fels-Naptha'...it comes in a bar...like a large,long bar of soap...just rub some on a stain before you throw the article in the machine...a large bar costs less than $2...and lasts a long time...but remember to keep it out of reach of small children and pets...

A tip for cleaning soap scum in the shower is to use a dryer sheet. Be sure to wear gloves because it made my hand sting and turn red when I just used my hand. It is great for cleaning shower doors and such.
