The Land Beyond the Forest 8
January was ski season and Márta along with Andrei had been skiing all their lives. They would go on a two night trip with Jim and Sue to Predeal. A very nice mountain resort town in Brașov County, Romania. They were taking their old gypsy wagon and pulling it with four horses to a designated campsite.
The road was groomed well for the horses and hay was available to buy from the campsite manager and his wife. You pay the site fee, food for horses and even meals if you desired. After tasting the campsite manager's wife's food Márta and Sue always chose to cook their own food. They always chose a site away from the house, on a slight hill. With all the tourists and their noise the four preferred quiet after their evening meal.
Once the gypsy wagon was set in it's site place the sides would open similar to a modern camper pop out on either side. A padded mattress with plenty of blankets and the wagon made a warm place to sleep. A campfire site with a grill was provided. Bring you own wood or buy some over at the house.
The ladies always brought dry vittles that could be cooked with water or another liquid to make into nourishing soup. Of course oats and bread were brought for their breakfast. The coffee pot and plenty of items in tins. Cookies and crackers along with cheese and hard sausages were available.
It was easy to cook the foods they liked and if for some reason they ran out of food they could go over to the house and buy cereal and dry fruits.
Jim and Sue also had been skiing all their lives and were eager to get out to the slopes. Everyone had eaten early that morning so figured they would just have a lite meal around one pm then return to ski.
Camp set up fast and easy. The horses put into their own field along with the purchased hay the four quickly went off to ski. The elevation was 1000m so there was plenty of snow.
Mid-meal brought them into camp to check on the horses and bring out food and refreshments. Around three they went back up the slopes for three or four more hours of fun skiing.
Sue and Jim were in their modern, to them, fashionable ski wear. Andrei wore the beat up and patched outfit he had always worn for years. Márta wore her out of style old wartime trouser jacket suit made of the softest wool and her signature beret perched on her head. The tourists that saw her old time skis were fascinated at how quickly this elder could zip down the slopes in these funny looking skis.
Returning to the wagon the men checked the horses again while the ladies started the fire and prepared a delicious mouthwatering soup. The music from the house drifts up to the wagon. Everyone is pleased at the sound.

Good Bye Boogie Dance
Last dance, if our feelings just disappear
I'll be longing for taking us up to that place
Last dance, while I perform my favorite dance steps
I just want to stay like this for now
Last chance Since I'll never see you again
Good bye Maybe you recall our dating moments
Baby Now I'm clapping loud to the beat
Baby Let's decorate the night
Flying boogie dance Let's dance, sprinkle us with light
Good bye boogie dance, it's a stylish goodbye
Last dance, I even remember the ocean color
I don't want to forget it yet
Last dance, it'll look like an old days undulation wave
If we get close again just are we used to be
Last chance Here I am, leave it to me
Good bye If I could mix myself together with the lights
Baby Now I'm clapping loud to the beat
Baby Let's decorate the night
Flying boogie dance Let's dance, sprinkle us with light
Good bye boogie dance, it's a stylish goodbye
Flying boogie dance Let's dance, sprinkle us with light
Good bye boogie dance, it's a stylish goodbye
Flying boogie dance
Good bye boogie dance
I love you!!
Soon as the air turns crisper. The fire dies out and everyone is off to bed for a good rest.
Tomorrow is another day with fun for all. With fun for all. With fun for all.
You are special,
because you
know how to give
everything to
a family to make
every member
feel blessed.
