Wie Gott in Frankreich!

So, I'm sitting at the computer at the public library. I'm seated next to Arthur368, a regular at the library. Brian, the head librarian, is here today. He's wearing a very interesting necktie. It features a map of the District of Columbia. You have to get close to the tie to discern what it is.

It's now official. I will be spending two weeks in Atlantic City in early August. I leave on the morning of Monday August 3rd and will return on Friday August 14th. My sister has a condo at… Continue

A Thousand Leering Grimaces of Life

I am an impostor with many selves. My life narrative is a place where imaginative revisions seem (at least to me) necessary. I understand that we must all construct a story of our lives: the quiet tale we repeat in our heads, after dark, while falling asleep. Without compunction, I change my story at will, inventing details, shaping and reshaping my persona to suit myself and the needs of my avocation as writer and my personal life. But I don't like it when others dwell on the details of my… Continue

How to Say I Love You

Open Your Heart to Change

"You cannot change what you will not admit.

In order to live fresh, you have to identify what

needs to be discarded. A superficial change

will not sustain your core values.

Examine honestly."

from the book of inspirational quotes..

What a difficult task. Early in the morning

I usually try to think about yesterday and

what I done, who I'd trespassed , who I

love the most, and what I need to do to

achieve peacefullness. always… Continue

Adoption

By Jill Work

We said

We're starting on a second adoption

They said

So soon? Is that wise?

- but they didn't know

you were waiting for us...

We said

This time we want a boy

They said

Girls are easier to raise

- but they didn't know

you were waiting for us...

We said

We want a toddler

They said

It's better to adopt an infant

- but they didn't know

you were waiting for us...

New Bill HR2749 Gives FDA Unheard-of Power over Small Farmers, Food and Supplement Producers

The Food Safety Enhancement Act of 2009 (FSEA) is a poorly written bill, now before the US House of Representatives. Known as the Waxman-Dingell bill, it really isn't much about food safety at all. Previous food safety issues in the news were centered around large agri-corporations, but this bill places its harshest burdens on small food and supplement producers. New language is introduced along with criminal and civil penalties, including up to 10 years of jail time and fines up to $100,000… Continue

A Lisztian Mood

I was in a Lisztian mood last night. I watched a DVD of Franz Liszt's "A Faust Symphony," performed by the Boston Symphony, conducted by Leonard Bernstein. The performance was recorded in about 1977. Some consider this symphony to be Liszt's masterpiece. It surely contains one of the most colorful families of leitmotifs in the orchestral repertoire. In fact, each character in Goethe's play is so vividly depicted that you might not be remiss in calling it an opera without words Leonard Bernstein… Continue

The Delights of Liszt

OK, so I have an appointment with my new psychiatrist this afternoon. He's from Somalia. I hope he's not a pirate. I've been seeing psychiatrists since 1977--can you believe that? Readers of my posts may wonder what I gain by seeing a psychiatrist. I'm on the fringe, mentally speaking.

Last night at about 3:00 a.m. my neighbors in 135--speaking euphemistically--got frisky. Very frisky. They live across the hall. But I could still hear their antics through their door, across the hall,… Continue

is she really out there?

Did you ever look into someones eyes and begin to wonder if you had seen them once before, another time in which you had loved them many times over in a different place and time?I had wondered about that sometime ago as we met just the other day,for you turned to ask me a question as if i was hearing it in a strange language, but as i look to see you, and my eyes meet yours all words are lost in wonder. Why me?There are others around to help you ponder on your question. For I am just a wonderer in… Continue

my giving tree

This is the story of Max the tree,a tree that is so wonderious and giving that I had to give it a name, but instead when I become upset I start to see thing differently.I had wish Max the tree was with me today to help me feel safe and secure for Max is a tree so old and wise and arms that reach from one horizen to another,to form a perfect circle to hide and protect one who seeks it.I wish I was a sturdy and strong as he for Max must be as old as time its self able to stand alone and strong… Continue

Losing a friend

I just had the passing of two customers who were friends as well .On died a week or so before the other and with me not knowing about the one that just pass on mothers day weekend I had sent a card to her new address just for the hopes of cheering her up for she was in her late 80's.I returned home just the other day to find a small envelope waiting for me with her name on it,so I was at least happy that she had recived my card, but happiness turned to sorrow and a smile into a tear. She had just… Continue

Not one moment

Not one day in anyone's life is an uneventful day, no day without profound meaning, no matter how dull and boring it might seem,no matter whether you are a letter carrier or a queen, a shoeshine boy or a movie star, a renowed philospher or a downs syndrome child.Because in every day of your life, there are opportunities to perform little kidnesses for others, both by concious acts of will and unconscious examples. Each smallest act of kindness even just words of hope when they are needed, the… Continue

who am i

Hi there its been sometime since I sat a wrote one of my wonderful blogs. The reason I write them when I do is to help me think through my life and to see it in words instead of through actions.I was out shooting some rolls of film trying to remember why I love being out doors so much when I began to feel so alone.I was walking among the Lilacas, and cherry blossoms, the smell was a mixture of both sweet and strange. The wind was blowing as lightly as a whisper when I was returning to a time of my… Continue

A challenge!

I just got today's hairy thought: Chat has, as all chats do, devolved into a dullard's grind of "how's the weather" and "hi" and "where do you live?", yada yada yada. No thought allowed zone.

Fine, but why not try to infiltrate neuronic activity into the zone? I commit myself to inserting a non-sequiter at least once a day into the chat. Something meaningless, trivial, pointless - another words, miles above whatever's going on in the chat zone.

I, as the arbiter of… Continue
