According to the President, if sequestration takes effect we will be facing armaggedon. Hundreds of thousands of jobs will be lost. Major cuts to Head Start. Cuts for the elderly, first responders, teachers, and on and on. The sky will fall says the fear monger in chief. Imagine all this will happen with an $85 billion cut from  $1.036 trillion in "discretionary" spending.

Not being able to blame George Bush, the president has resorted to once again  blaming the evil Republicans BUT he neglects to tell everyone that this is his plan. He also neglects to tell everyone that he said that he would veto any effort by lawmakers to repeal a  requirement for $1 trillion in automatic spending cuts to be triggered after the  Super Committee failed to agree on terms to save the country $1.2 trillion over  a 10-year span.

Imagine all the fear mongering and name calling are continuing under tha President who told us that he would be the great uniter. Listening to him I wonder how all this negativity is working for him, and us?

OK, so this sequestration thing was intended to be a straw man in that it was never intended to be invoked.  It was intended to scare the electorate into doing, well, that is the rub isn't it.

What happened to the electorate is that they kept things pretty much the same from 2010 which started the whole sequestrate thing in the first place.  Just like the fiscal cliff this whole thing was made up to do something and that is what was the point, something, which has not happened, yet..

Fear of the unknown...

"the fear monger in chief"

maybe you need to go off and read some more...review the history of the coming fiscal cuts and also what is meant by discretionary spending...turn off fox and perhaps read..real papers such as the post or the times...

I am retired, so don’t do a hell of a lot, especially during Winter.  Well, I read a lot and go to the horse track.  But those in Congress today, I  admire them----they really know how to do nothing.  Congressman or Senator. What a great job for retired people!  These folks in Washington now put Harry Truman’s Do Nothing Congress to shame.

Sequestration? What’s that?  Half of them probably can’t even spell the word.  It’s getting downright disgusting.

On that we can agrre lorouch but as they say. The fish rots from the head. There is no leadership.

I'm deleting your reply Saltie.  If you have something to say prove it with facts, not disparaging other members by attacking their IQ and screaming childish names, like "you're a ... talking puppet."  When we do that we are only describing ourselves.

Boehner came out of this saying he got 98%of what he wanted, now he says its the President's fault.

Lovely picture of Boehner. The Tan Man.

it was an 85% solution....

...or The 17% solution.

Ah yes, they have a week off, which made time for the president to have his golf vacation and game with Tiger, all a part of Presidents' Day....and yes, this will mean there are only 5 days left to sequestration when they get back...with or without clubs..but as to playing, how 'bout the weather!..I mean inches in the desert, stopping match play....clearly, a warning of climate change...or not....

So... sequestration, continuing resolution and debt ceiling...beware the ides of March....or something....as we preview the next can kicking exercise repeated over and over again...and gun control....forgetaboutit....at least until June while immigration reform still has a chance if McCain can stay on message ....and yes, it still is doomsday politics, over and over again...and yes, it gets old and boring....very boring....
