Life’s Too Short
The days are running by
and I can not slow them down
Life’s going by too fast
I notice with a frown
It seems like yesterday
my face was wrinkle free
Not so long ago
I was young and fancy free
My steps were strong and brisk
my eyes could see for miles
my back was straight unbent
from life’s challenging trials.
My children all were young
my spouse was younger too
now I have grandchildren
and so much less to do.
I used to party long
into the summer deep
now just after my dinner
I’m off to bed to sleep.
I glance into the mirror
an old person do I see
where is that younger person
I know I used to be?
The days are racing by
far too fast for little me
I know I’m on the path
from life to eternity.
So I savor every moment
For we all have a finite time
I live my life as best I can
Every instant most sublime.

At a wine merchant's warehouse, the regular taster died and the manager started looking for a new one to hire. An old drunk with a ragged look came by to apply for the position. The manager wondered how to send him away, but gave him a glass to drink anyway.
The drunk tried it and said, "It's a Muscat three years old, grown on a north slope, matured in steel containers. Low grade but acceptable."
"That's correct", said the manager. "Another glass for you."
"It's a cabernet, eight years old, south-western slope, oak barrels, matured at eight degrees. Requires three more years for finest results."
"Absolutely correct. A third glass."
''It's a pinot blanc champagne, high grade and exclusive'', calmly said the drunk.The manager was astonished and winked at his secretary to suggest something. She left and came back with a glass of urine. The drunk tried it. "It's a blond, 26 years old, three months pregnant, and if I don't get the job, I'll name the father."
