Now, Sinatra--every word is followed by his personality. See how he says "sinnng." Yes. Snapping my fingers at 7 am and I'm up because I have a sinus migraine, but he still has me snapping.

that's how i feel about a lot of the broadway-style singers whether male or female. not all but some...and those few individuals may have the technical proficiency and hit every note every time the same night after night but it has, to me, all the depth of reading the phone book. and then you have those that manage to convey LOTS with their voice, their tone, their stance and even sometimes better with some imperfections...go listen to sinatra. he was a great example...he was a wonderful interpreter of lyrics and part of that was he took liberties with time signatures and would be sometimes ahead, sometimes behind but it conveyed feeling

Prob, I tried last night. I went on Youtube and listened to Krall; she is very pretty, she plays well, I like her choices of music, I even like her husky voice. You know what I don't like? Her phrasing. It's dead. When I listened to Anita Oday, that's when it hit me. I don't think Krall feels her music. She seems to just sing it. You know who else I don't like? He puts me to sleep too. Get ready because I am the only Italian in the world who doesn't. Andrea Boccelli. There's something missing.
