What kind of homes do you like ?

Open concept , marble counter tops , great kitchen , upper scale appliances ,  something else ?

Whats your dream home and where would be perfit place to live ?

If I had a winning lottery ticket....after making sure my friends and family are taken care of.....I would build me a 5-room house. Not many rooms....but the rooms would be spacious. I want the kitchen/dining room and living room to be an open floor plan. A nice island would divide kitchen from the dining area....an island with a snack bar and kitchen stools. Brushed nickel appliances and granite countertops. Lots of windows. A fireplace (gas). A large master bedroom with master bath and large walk-in closet. Big walk-in shower.....but also one of those tubs with the door in it, so I could soak in a bubble bath. One nice guest room and one office/guest room. Second bath in hall. Linen closet. And a porch out front, and a patio out back. A pool would be nice, if a handsome pool boy comes with it. ;-) oh.....and an attached 2-car garage. Can u tell I have given this some thought? Oh....and I would like it to be on the N. Carolina coast.

The beaches are so muc different  than the South Carolina coast . Summer of 42 was filmed there . All those sand dunes and clap boarded homes amunst the dunes made the movie ...

I watch these programs too.  I really enjoy seeing the creativity and craftsmanship.  I subscribe to HGTV magazine as well.  I have a small little cottage by the water in Ri and recently did over my bathroom.  I was definitely influenced by the shows, although it is really small bath.  I did an update to the kitchen a few years ago, painting the cabinets and changing out the hardware, simple stuff just to spruce it up.  Again, I was influenced by the shows.  It is a comfortable little house.  I recently had some landscape plans worked up so that I can install a patio.  The house sits on a rock and the changes in grade make it challenging to find a flat spot for chairs and a table.  So I had the plans drawn up and am implementing the first phase this spring.  I won't have a full patio but I will have a two tiered lawn and in the future, it will become a patio.

The fiancee and I talk about this all the time - "What would our dream home look like ?"

All I know is that we'd not only have to hit the Powerball, but we'd also have to find the world's most patient architect, because her tastes and mine are soooo different. She likes Southern Gothic mansions and Louis the XIV-style opulence, while I like low, rambling, spacious, one-with-nature Asian and Mediterranean-style design...

Build both in house . One side for ya  . One side for her . Then just visit one another . Probably take the jackpot to build it ...

When I retired in 2004 we sold our home in CA and built our dream home in WY at my husband's ranch. It was over 5000 sq ft. and had everything I dreamed of. The kitchen had a huge pantry and a 10' granite cooking counter, a sunroom with windows all around and 7 skylights. Vaulted ceilings, 4 bedrooms 4 bathrooms. It sat over the Little Laramie River. The home had radiant heat in the floors which were powered by solar tubes and propane as a back up. There was a library, a mudroom and my office sat between the kitchen and the laundry. (places I spent the most time) The flooring was cherry wood except for the tile in the kitchen, sunroom and great room. Great room had a fireplace made of the Huge Stones from the area.

The reason we went to WY was the ranch was starting to need a lot of shoring up, so after we built our house, we separated 35 acres and built a western log home overlooking the Centennial valley. This was a whole different style of home and was fun to build just to sell, I got to plan design and purchase everything for that home. The reason we needed to sell this one was to totally gut and remodel the old ranch house.

The ranch house was built in 1890, we kept the main structure (log)and added a new roof and foundation changed the walls so it had 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a pantry and laundry room, we added 2 bay windows in the open living area.

After we were done with these projects I got all my dream home desires out of my system and wanted to go back to a warm climate. We sold the big home and moved into the remodeled ranch house while we traveled back and forth looking for a home to buy. It was a really fun retirement project and I realized I really don't want a big home but I'm glad I did have it for a few years.

I really like Rehab Adict. Yeah I know you are thinking he watches it because Nicole Curtis is extremely good looking. Yes that does factor in but she really does a great job of rehabbing houses that look like a total loss. Her voice does annoy me a little but I still watch.
