This song, totally Vietnam.  I remember sitting in the WPU snack bar listening to this as we worried about our boyfriends being called up.  Later it was part of Full Metal Jacket.

Creedence Clearwater Revival
Fortunate Son
Willy And The Poor Boys

Lyrics:

Some folks are born made to wave the flag,
Ooh, they're red, white and blue.
And when the band plays "Hail to the chief",
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord,

It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no senator's son, son.
It ain't me, it ain't me;
I ain't no fortunate one, no,
Yeah!
Some folks are born silver spoon in hand,
Lord, don't they help themselves, oh.
But when the taxman comes to the door,
Lord, the house looks like a rummage sale, yes,

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no millionaire's son, no.
It ain't me, it ain't me;
I ain't no fortunate one, no.

Some folks inherit star spangled eyes,
Ooh, they send you down to war, Lord,
And when you ask them, "How much should we give?"
Ooh, they only answer More! more! more! yoh,

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no military son, son.
It ain't me, it ain't me;
I ain't no fortunate one, one.

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no fortunate one, no no no,
It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no fortunate son, no no no,

i was gonna put this one up but you beat me to it ..

Boy, this music brings me back.  My first husband was there while we were engaged.  I was still in college.  Everynight I'd watch the news and look at the casualty list at the end to see if anyone I knew had died. Very intense time.  My mother bought me a set of pots  because I was to be married, and all I thought was what difference did they make.  Anybody could die at anytime in the war.

PS:  I still have those pots.  Used them through my entire marriage with him, on my own, and now in this marriage.  Some handles are missing, but, sheeeesh, what good pots!
