TBD on Ning

Our grandson, who's a high school senior, has a gay friend. His friend is from another school district and is in college. Caleb has a couple of enemys in his class who got wind of this friendship. He received 50 texts yesterday from classmates advising him of rumors circulating. My daughter called me last night to tell me. Caleb was so upset that he stayed home from school. I went over this morning and Tracey, Caleb and I talked. I asked him if he abandoned his friend over this. He said no, of course not. I don't think I've ever been prouder of him. He will go to school tomorrow, and if and when he's asked if he's gay, he will simply chuckle and say no, but he will always be friends with Rick because he's good people.

Loincloth.
Honourary? Do I have to say things like "hoser" and "eh?"
Yes, and so what?? She'd still be my best friend!!! smooooch right back at ya...
When my daughter was a freshman in high school, she had to do an interview with a classmate, and in turn have the classmate interview her. When asked what were some things she didn't like, she said "homophobia and racism." The guy interviewing her said "That's funny because I was going to say I don't like blacks or gays." She said "Yeah, that's just because you're scared."

I'm not sure I would have had the guts to speak my truth so clearly at her age. I've got some cool girls. Let's hear it for the cool kids.
Hip hip horray for the cool kids, especially your girls Kate. Hip hip horray for cool moms too.
And Ubu's bragging because he spent 5 minutes in the cold. ppffftt. Cmon Ubu, I know you can do better than that.
True, MM. Loincloths can be a little drafty!!! lol That Ubu has guts or is it balls of steel??
LOL.

I was thinking my next feat of endurance would be getting strapped to the front of a semi, sporting the loincloth and reaching a minimum of 75 MPH. I want TV coverage for this one and maybe a medic or two on standby.
We are, 1GL. Very proud.
Kids will find something to make fun of you.
Like the girl in school that said she had boiled steak for dinner.
They never let that rest.
You're right darroll, when they're picking on one they're leaving the rest alone.
Congrats on having a kid with some convictions and some backbone, Larr.

My daughter came to me around the age of 17 and asked me how I would feel if she were gay. I told her that A), In about a year, it'd be none of my business anyway, and B), Gays are just people, really no different from anybody else....which means that about 10% of 'em are raving assholes - So just to be careful and to pick whomever makes her happy.
