TBD on Ning

I recently had a CT scan of my abdomen and pelvic area as my doctor advised me to take this test due to a dull ache in my groin area I had been complaining about for weeks. He called to say everything looked clear but the CT scan revealed a lot of things I never knew. I have 2 hernias and what really freaked me out 2 spleens. Who knew? Perhaps I can give a spleen or hernia to the Scarecrow or Tin man.
The doctor, a gastroenterologist said my CT scan was clear. yeah-clear as mud..nothing to worry about, he said..Nothing to worry about? I have a benign cyst on one kidney, a whole bunch of diverticula, and an enlarged prostate pressing against my bladder which is normal for someone my age. NORMAL? I'm not a happy camper. My happy camping days were about 50 years ago at Robin Hood Day camp on Long Island.
Who knows what other wonderful attractions are lurking in my body? I don't think I want to know. The worry, the anxiety, the shock of hearing I have 2 spleens is freaking me out. But at least I don't have a spare rib.

If I learn any more of what ails you here Mark,

I fear that they will have to carry me off to hospital too,

coz my sides would be splitting from laughter.....

You must have the cleanest blood in town.

As Desi would have said to Lucy, You got a lot of spleein to do!

After my own CTs and MRIs turned up a bunch of random things that my doctor told me were nothing to worry about, I worried anyway until I did some research.  It turns out that almost everyone has a harmless but unusual thing in their innards.  It's stranger not to have a benign tumor or a few cysts than not.  Normally these things would never be detected except perhaps by an autopsy, but thanks to the latest imaging technology, we can see everything, including a bunch of unimportant stuff.
