TBD

TBD on Ning

My family is gathering this weekend from all over the world. Some of us haven't seen each other in almost twenty years. We spend most of our time together in the kitchen, and I always make gumbo. None of us is from the south, yet somehow it's not a real gathering until the kitchen smells like gumbo.

What is your  family's specialty when you gather? What are some of the tastes and smells of your youth? Have you passed on the recipes to the next generation?

The most memorable smell from childhood was coming home from church on Sundays to the smell of roast beef.

I see the smell of roast beef on Sundays is winning the contest.
My memories are of Freshly baked Bread. The smell of my Mother's bread always brought in all my friends.
And it was always at all family gatherings.
As all of us kids were leaving home my mother gave us each a number of her recipes we'd grown up with. Last time the sibs and I got together we made a couple of them. Wonderfully nostalgic.
God bless you and have fun!
Can I have any leftovers KA?
