40 years this weekend
I was just looking at the USA Today that I picked up last night at the office. It has some of the pictures of Woodstock 40 years ago this weekend. Was I the only one in this group that was there? Yes, I am over 50, and proud of it. I was 18 years old and could hardly wait to get there with my friends. It was such a mess, and most of the people were so messed up. Since I do not do drugs, never have, never will, and I knew my Daddy could never find out where I was, I was very careful. My cousins had an in with some people that got up fairly close in." Wouldn't have missed it for the world"------peace to you my friends

It was just too many people. Too much dope really. The music was so out of this world. I could never describe the real feelings. It was spine tingling. I can only write about this because my parents are both deceased. They would have whipped my ass for sure.

I watched the movie Wednesday night and the music is still amazing. Joe Crocker gave the greatest performance I have ever seen. The other stand outs were Sly and The Family Stone, Jimi Hendrix and Crosby, Stills and Nash.

I was thinking of going as I was traveling back to NYC from somewhere in the Midwest. But my car decided to dissolve a rocker arm on the PA Turnpike at 9:30 on Saturday night.
I could not believe it, but I found some shade tree mechanics in a gas station that I limped into. They had a friend who was going to do his car, same engine, the next day with all the parts. I bought the parts from him and they installed it all. I was back on the road by 2 AM. All the peace and love was not in Woodstock that weekend.
My brother went but never talked much about it. I think he passed out for most of it.

Saw a piece on Dateline last Sunday. It was about the people behind putting the whole thing together.
The Band was great on this show.

It was a good weekend on the local radio celebrating Woodstock....lots of good tunes. I wonder where my Woodstock album is????
