Right now take-out Chinese sounds good. Except my favorite place doesn't deliver and I don't want to go out. In the heat. And the rain. And the Tornado warning.
-Slice Green Tomatoes
-Dip them in a mixture of half egg/half buttermilk
-Roll them in a mixture of half corn meal/half all purpose flour,
seasoned w/either salt & pepper OR Tony Cachere's Creole seasoning (NOT both, b/c Tony's is very salty)
-Fry them in hot oil & drain on paper towels or brown paper, like paper grocery bags.
Another way is to dip them in a thick batter made from beer, flour, and seasoning of choice. I think the main thing to do is not over cook them. If they are over cooked they tend to get mushy, so I fry mine hot and fast.
Sounds great. I emptied my fridge before we left on vacation & haven't been to the grocery store yet, so I guess I'm gonna scrounge the freezer & see what I can rustle up. ;-p
