I picked this graphic novel up just after I got the job I have now because there was a comic book store down the street (till they moved away). I’ll admit it, I left it sitting on the self for awhile before reading it. then one day, most likely out of boredom, I pop the cherry on it and soon after was hooked and have the other four.
While I love comics as does Max, we differ on the subjects of comics. Max is a big Marvel head as you could tell by his posts about comics. I, however, tend to go a bit more of the indy route. That’s not to say I don’t like the mainstream characters, cause I do, I just feel that I don’t want to have to know 40 or 50 years of back story to know what’s going on. I also like that the indy stuff I pick up all lives in it’s own world for the most part unlike DC and Marvel where Batman and Superman are all buddy-buddy--LOL!!!
I dug the story by Andy Diggle and the art in the book as well. The main artist is Jock [I know weird right?]. The flat color and the heavy use of shadows in the book is what really sticks out. The only thing I want to say as a gripe is one of the fill in artists’ style doesn’t really fit the feel of the book as set forth so far. It’s the only thing I didn’t like. I assume that people may know more about The Losers soon when hollywood bring to the people their adaptation. I hope it’s as good as the book. Time will tell.
So I guess what I’m saying is go forth and read comic books even if you don’t like superheroes there is something for you. And for those that believe that comics are for kids I’ll tell you that you are living in the past. Anything that diverges from the mainstream have a lot of latitude when it comes to subject mature, basically the topics range from people with powers and what they do with it to normal people just trying to survive in a world very much inspired by the post 911 times we live in. Go find a local comic store, don’t just wait for the movie, and pick up a comic or graphic novel.
I like that! Nicely written! Any suggestions?
Right now, check out the Ultimates.
Well, the comic book series published by the Vertigo; imprint of DC Comics.

Point was well made. I just got Endgame when I heard this movie was coming out. That will complete my collection, right? Nothing else has come out since then?
