"Moonchild", written by DAVID GATES, he of "Bread" soft-rock infamy, when he was a session musician at A&M Records, and somehow got handed Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band as his first production job for the label, manning the boards for two singles; "Moonchild" was the A side of the second 45, w/ "Frying Pan" as the B, released September of 1966

90's Liverpool band, the Stairs, covered this on a 1992 various-artist compilation from Imaginary Records, a label that specializes in cover collections, called "1965: Through The Looking Glass"

Today, in Musical History, September 4th, 1968: The Rolling Stones song, "Street-Fighting Man", which had been released August 31st, gets banned by several Chicago radio stations, because it "might incite public disorder" - 

A week after the riots at the Democratic National Convention. Which only reminds a lot of people about the oppressiveness and censorship that inspired the riots that had just ended, and how the conservative mindset will never learn. 



And here are the Stones themselves, 51 years later, opening their "No Filter" tour, in Chicago. 



"Mixed Emotions", I'm sure. One has to wonder how many members of that audience were also on Michigan Avenue that night in 1968, or were getting tear gassed in Grant Park.

Classical music and Jazz fans tend to be shy, intellectually curious and creative; Metal fans are gentle and self-accepting; indie music fans were intellectual, but have low self-esteem and are not hard-working; Blues and Soul fans were outgoing, creative, emotionally stable, and intelligent; Rap fans had high self-esteem and were outgoing; C&W fans were outgoing, conventional, and hard-working; Reggae fans were creative, but not hard-working; and fans of Pop music had high self-esteem but low creativity, were conventional, but were also hard-working and outgoing.

Sitek has worked with TV On The Radio, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Liars, Weezer, Foals, and dozens of others; he gets around.

This song comes from Sitek's 2010 solo album, calling himself "Maximum Balloon", with his TVOTR pal Tunde Adebimpe.
