Today, in Musical History, July 17th, 1967: Jimi Hendrix and the Experience bail on their wildly-mismatched tour with the Monkees, at the Forest Hills Tennis Stadium, in Queens, NY - Mainly because they were sick of the horrified reactions they were getting from teenyboppers screaming for Davy Jones, but also because the parents of those teenyboppers were complaining about Hendrix's obviously more mature content and onstage antics; Dick Clark (HIM again), the tour's promoter, together with Hendrix'; manager, Chris Chandler, concoct a story where the Daughters of the American Revolution social group forced the Experience off the tour.

Today, in Musical History, July 18th, 1993: Rage Against The Machine protest against music censorship - and, specifically, the Parents Music Resource Council - by appearing at the Lollapalooza festival stark naked, except for duct tape over their mouths, and each band member sporting a "P", a "M", a "R", or a "C", painted on their chests.

They perform no music. They stand motionless for 25 minutes. I'm sure plenty of RATM bros didn't get the message whatsoever. Just like MAGA don't get the point now.
