Cover Of The Day:

"The Days Of Wine And Roses" #33 Pop, 3/23/1963 (Henry Mancini)

Sun Ra & the Arkestra bring their usual cosmic swing and shuffle to the song, on their 1989 album, "Blue Delight"

Innovator and fascinating guy. I hope he's doing well back on Saturn.

Today, in Musical History, March 24th, 1973: On the "Transformer" tour, during a show in Buffalo, Lou Reed is performing "I'm Waiting For The Man" when a fan jumps on stage, yelling "LEATHER !", and bites Lou on the ass.

The fan is grabbed by security and thrown out. Lou shrugs it off, and finishes the show. He later commented that "America seems to be really good at raising purebred animals"; Somewhat amazingly, Lou's first live album, "Rock And Roll Animal", is not named after the incident.

Cover Of The Day:

"Baby It's You" (Burt Bacharach / Luther Dixon / Mack David), #8 Pop, 3/24/1962 (the Shirelles)

Cover by firebrand NY group The Last Internationale, from their 3rd album, 2014's "We Will Reign"

Boss cover.

Totally off topic--I saw a 2015 horror comedy movie yesterday called "He Never Died." It's starring Henry Rollins (whom I used to see at the 9:30 Club, and just generally around, in DC in the early 1980s). It wasn't bad. You might want to catch it for a chuckle, if you haven't seen it already. Rollins does antisocial very well. Hehe. It's free on Tubi.

We saw "Hail Mary" Monday night.

B+. Like all good science fiction, it raises more questions than it answers, both science-related and "what-happens-next" ?

Liked Gosling's character - He's a good scientist, but an even better teacher - and those always-necessary educator communication skills come in handy when he reaches his destination.

Based on the book written by the same guy who wrote "The Martian", Andy Weir - Although I think "The Martian" is the better movie.

Today, in Musical History, March 25th, 1967:

Hard working lads Pink Floyd play three complete gigs, in three different towns, within one 24-hour period.

An afternoon show in Swindon, an evening show in Windsor, and a late-night show at Bognor Regis.

On this day in 1967, Pink Floyd made the first of three appearances on BBC TV's legendary music show, Top Of The Pops. Here's the band during one of those performances:

A few more boys from Swindon...

Cover Of The Day:

"Happy Together", # 1 Pop, 3/25/1967 (the Turtles)

Cover version by Belgian electropop weirdos 2 Belgen, a B- side of their 1983 single "Mustapha"

("Two Belgian" ? "Too Belgiann" ? No one knows.)
