Recently read a really different book MY LOVELY WIFE.  If you enjoy stories about serial murders you’ll be startled at this story. Can’t remember the author but please Goggle it.

Today picked up a right off the press book  THE WIVES  by Tarryn Fisher. The cover reads “How far would you go to find the truth about your husband. You’ll have whiplash until the very end.  THE WIVES will leave the most sure-footed reader uneasy until the last word is read.”

Thanx Rapa, I will put it on hold at the library.  I too use the library exclusively except for gift books.

I am currently reading A Little Hope which you recommended.  I'm finding it a bit depressing since I am dealing with my husband's Alzheimer's these days (and knowing it will get much worse).  I am "hoping" to find some joy in the books ending.

Am sorry, Carci, I didn’t know. I nursed my husband with pancreatic Cancer at home for many months but his mind stayed clear and he thanked me daily. You’re in a totally different ballgame. May the Lord grant you strength and patience!

His mind is still clear, just very forgetful at this point.  He tells me every day that he loves me and how pretty (?) I am ... I try to appreciate what is now and not think about what will be ...

Thanx for your encouragement.  Cancer is also a horrible disease.  He has CLL but does not need treatment for that at this time.  ...  Life goes on ...

I'm still trying to figure out how to navigate this site. Hope this is the place to talk about what we've just read. Just finished A PROPHET WITHOUT HONOR, by Joseph Wurtenbaugh. I don't generally read alternative history, but I'm glad I went with intuition and read this one. It's a "what if" the Hitler story had worked out differently and it's done in a deeply thought-provoking way, effectively utilizing an epistolary-type novel form. The pacing is perfect and the drama builds slowly as excerpts from future history books, personal journal entries, and letters written by the main players leave tantalizing clues about what happened in Germany back in the 1920s and 30s. I don't want to summarize too much because it would be easy to accidentally give something away. I already had to rewrite one sentence to avoid spoilers. Has anyone else read this unusual book?

Sounds interesting , Sue, but probably not appropriate for my bedtime stories! Will keep it on my daytime list should I return to any daytime reading. Please remember to “RABBIT” tonight when June arrives!

I’m currently reading Nicholas Sparks THE LONGEST RIDE.    HIS STORIES ARE NEVER “HO HUM!”

My bedtime reads lately have been an historical mystery series by Irina Shapiro, the Redmond and Haze series. Their similar to Anne Perry’s Thomas Pitt or William Monk series. Well-written and interesting, but not so exciting that they keep me awake!

……..then they are good bed time stories!!!!!;)

I'm caught up in Allen Eskens latest book The Stolen Hours. Every one of his books is a treat.  All are stand-alones although Joe Talbert is a character in most of them.

If you haven't tried him get The Life We Bury to get started and you'll want to read them all. He has another new one coming out in Sept.

Thanks, Carci!  Will check my library for Asken’s books!

The reviews and summary of The Life We Bury sounds fascinating and I'll be checking with my library, too! Thanks for that suggestion.

Unfortunately my library carries no Allen Eskens books, only two audios.  I’m disappointed !  I don’t do audios!

Finished a most delightful book by Nicholas Sparks.  Perhaps you’ve read THE LONGEST RIDE.    Ira and Ruth, Sophia and Luke are two couples who have little i common and who are separated by years and experience.  Yet their lives will converge with unexpected poignancy, reminding us all that even the most difficult decisions can yield extraordinary journeys.  I highly recommend this memorable story!
