I'm not sure. I like the pine and the balsam equally well

As adults, the gifts in your family are opened the eve before, to grant time to cooking and dining in the morning

Nope. We opened gifts on Christmas day. We had a very small breakfast, no lunch, and ate our Christmas dinner around 7:30pm, so we had plenty of time to cook. 

You visited Santa at least once as a child. (I didn't.)
