TBD on Ning

Have you ever been on a cruise?  I know people who have and they seem to love them.  I'm not sure if I could handle all the people jammed together. Would love to hear what you think?

I went on a cruise a long time ago when I was in my twenties and I enjoyed it. I have neighbors who went on a cruise just before the pandemic started. They caught a cold but did not have Covid19. I would do it again if I have the funds and the pandemic winds down.

Debbie and her family totally love them. I've been on about 3 with Debbie. Personally, they're nice but I think that they're overrated. It's probably just me as so many people love them.  This is the reason I bought a time share...my answer to not going on any more cruises.

Where did you buy the time share?

I've never been on a cruise and don't think I would enjoy it except for the one that goes up the inside passage of Alaska; some friends went on that and said it was fantastic.

I've gone on Alaska cruises twice...loved every minute. They were both on Holland America which sort of caters to an older set and the ships are not huge. Those giant ships do not appeal to me at all...too many people. I've never had any desire to go anywhere but Alaska...tropical climates do not appeal to me.

I always wanted my husband to go with me on a cruise. He never wanted to. In July 2019, 7 months after my husband died, I went on what was supposed to be a family reunion cruise to Bermuda on Celebrity. Unfortunately, the cousin in charge of planning started the process way too late and 99% (or more) of our family members didn't go. I still enjoyed it though. I had a cabin to myself and it was expensive, though when you count all that's included, I didn't mind.

The food was very good and the service was excellent. I ate at the buffet for breakfast and lunch. The number of choices were amazing. We had formal seating for the dinners. Boy, talk about feeling like royalty! It was awesome to just be able to go see a show any night we wanted. The shows were great too...some very talented young people. I went to my first "silent disco", something my son had told me about. I had an ocean view cabin but without a balcony. I didn't take full advantage of all they had to offer because a couple of days I didn't check the activities brochure. We went ashore one day and walked to the shops near the pier. Another day we took the ferry to the mainland and looked in the stores. It was a hot, tiring day and truthfully, I enjoyed my time on the ship better. I was a bit disappointed because the excursion we wanted to book was the morning the ship was supposed to sail and we didn't want to take a chance that something might delay our return to the ship.

I wouldn't mind taking another cruise but seeing what's happened with cruise ships (even before the virus) gave me pause the first time. Now with the virus and seeing how the passengers were stuck on the boats for weeks before being allowed to disembark, I'd be afraid to be put in that position in another emergency.  I'm so glad we went when we did and it's something I'll remember forever.

I went with a friend on MSC cruise lines back in 2018. I was not at all disappointed. I loved every minute....especially sitting on my balcony, sipping an exotic drink and looking at the ocean. I would have preferred an Aladka cruise, but I couldn't find anyone who would go with me. We went to Puerto Rico and St. Maarten.

Years ago our agent booked us on a cruise, played half the night and slept most of the day. It was nice but work.

I went a long time ago and loved it. Four months after , my first husband died from cancer so I'm glad we got to go and it was a gift from our children. My daughter Lilah who just passed away from covid in January went on a cruise every year. In her memory her husband, my grandson and granddaughter will be going on a cruise in the Fall and will toss some ashes into the water.

Jozee, that's so sweet for them to do that for Lilah.  Hope you're ok.

Thanks Helen. Hanging in there.

when I was younger, I always thought of a cruise as an ideal vacation. Now, you probably couldn't give me one free. The only exception might be on a small private chartered yaught like experienced by the elite, top 1%.
