TBD on Ning

wanted to go for a walk out back where it's flat and Pete came with me to make sure I don't fall.  Soon as we get behind the shop we see two fairly pretty dogs, looked friendly.  when we started to get near them they started running up to us to play with the.  We looked like they needed water so we brought them back to our place where there's water for Zoe.  They drank it and Zoe was going crazy in the house.  We brought her out the white dog ran off but the black one decided it was play time.  I haven't laughed that much in years.  The black dog had much longer legs than Zoe plus she was free.  Zoe we try not to let her run loose because she likes to be gone for hours.  Now she's stretched out on the floor recuperating.  She's 8 years old.  Kind like us old folks running around for 20 minutes like that.  I guess they run all the time, because I left a message on the phone number on the tag and still no call.  This is all country and lots of dogs run loose.

Helen, you are far braver than me.  I am always careful (maybe too much) of a dog of mine getting too close/friendly with another unless I know them. That's why I hate dog parks.  I watch those t.v. shows  about courts and there are numerous cases of dogs getting bitten and worse. I guess that I'm just a worrier. I feel that they're just animals and anything can happen.

Steve, I feel the same. Scared one might hurt my baby.

I bet that made her day Helen. :)

I would worry if they have some disease- but on the other hand I guess Zoe enjoyed it.

glad you helped them hope you are not close to a lot of roads so they don't get hit by a car

I'm skeptical about dogs I don't know because I've been bitten by two dogs.  One I was doing a house inspection and was talking to some guy and the dog snuck up the stairs from the basement.  I was bleeding all over.  Had to go to ER.  I think the guy had drugs stashed in the house and the dog was there to protect them.  The other was a dog that belongs to a neighbor here when I first came down in 2017.    These two were so friendly and gentle.  I was actually petting them.  I don't worry about Zoe because she was raised here on the top of the hill and she protects her territory.  While she's sweet and gentle and protective don't piss her off, she used to put the neighbors dog in it's place real quick.  She's sweet and loving but can let it be known when she's not happy with other animals behavior.

Rarely see any dog running loose around here...laws are strict...if they chase deer or livestock, they get shot. I've never been one to get friendly with strange dogs, esp large ones.

I think that the bottom line is that dogs will be dogs.  When I was growing up, at home with my parents ,brother and sister, my sister was visiting our next door neighbors.  They had a small dog,and when she bent down to pet it it bit her on the face. There was no provocation for this.  I am one of those animal lovers who will approach and pet just about any dog. So far I've not been bitten but...? I guess that you always have to be wary.
