Why does happiness come easily to some but not others?

I think attitude toward life has a lot to do with it. Of course, some people can't be happy no matter what.

I absolutely agree with Lilrain.  Many people rely on others to make them happy.  Happiness comes within yourself and your attitude and outlook on life.

It depends on how you define "happiness". Some people are easily pleased and others are so high maintenance that they will never be happy. Some are just not happy with themselves.

To quote Syble, "Happiness comes from within...". People who look elsewhere are the ones who fail to find it

"One thing I learnt about happiness: It's made, not found. If you want to be happy, you must create it yourself." ~ Wilson Kanadi

"My happiness depends on me, so you're off the hook." ~ Abraham Hicks

It's a personality thing...is what it is....all mental.

"No man is happy who does not think himself so". ~ Publilius Syrus

I agree that happiness comes from within.  When I was young I was high maintenace but now my needs are simple.  Little things in my life make me happy.  Watching birds coming and going from birdhouses we have around or my pool in summer, or talking to the kids and grandkids.  I'm basically a happy person.  No stress no worries I'm happy.
