How old were you when you first learned to drive?

I started learning at 15 but actually made it at 16.

You probably don't believe it....but I was 32. Up until then I had either ridden with my husband, or used public transportation. Then I moved to Joliet, IL, from Milwaukee, and the public traffic system there sucked, and my husband worked out of town, so we needed another car and driver.

I tried to learn when I was seventeen but my father scared me so much that I could not learn. I didn't really learn until I was in my twenties.

Like Karin and Marcia, I was a "late bloomer". Had driver's ed in high school, but never had the behind the wheel practice, because my mother was "too nervous". So I was about 23 and my husband was the teacher...had a car at my disposal and had 2 little ones to haul around, so it was time.
