Recently read a really different book MY LOVELY WIFE. If you enjoy stories about serial murders you’ll be startled at this story. Can’t remember the author but please Goggle it.
Today picked up a right off the press book THE WIVES by Tarryn Fisher. The cover reads “How far would you go to find the truth about your husband. You’ll have whiplash until the very end. THE WIVES will leave the most sure-footed reader uneasy until the last word is read.”

Soo glad to learn that someone else has enjoyed and found meaning in this book!!!! It offered comfort to those aging.
sounds good...
I just ordered it from my library... I'm #258 for 57 copies... lol
I'm 1/2 way through All the Devils are Here and I have to say that it's a stuggle... almost put it down a couple of times... I like the stories set in 3 pines but this one seems confusing and uninteresting... don't seem to care who did what...
Carci, I agree with you about the latest Penny book.....I was disappointed.Better she get back to Three Pines!
I have the book on hold also rapa. I'm looking forward to the read, although I'm #494 on 20 copies in our E-library.
I just read Elsewhere by Dean Koontz before starting Killing crazyhorse. The Koontz book wasn't very good, I didn't think.
Mercy, Slopok!!!! #494 reserves!!!! Appears I was lucky to get the book of two ways fresh off the press! Am returning it to the library today. Am actually thinking of buying the book as there is so much wisdom contained in the pages. As a rule I only buy books as gifts but this is one book that I’d like to reread!
Didn't finish Killing Crazyhorse , just didn't hold my interest. A somewhat recent book that I've reread a couple of time is A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles, probably because in my mind's eye I see the protagonist as David Niven. I'm still looking for a good book. I checked out a Louie Lamore western, but not going to finish it either. I think I'm in a slump. I did read and enjoy The Dentist by Tim Sullivan, sort of an Agatha Christie who done it type novel, bought it on Amazon for $3.00.
I'm about 100 pages into The Evening and The Morning by Ken Follet which is a 900+ page prequel to Pillars of the Earth. The time is the year 997. I didn't expect to like it because I didn't much care for World Without End but it caught me right at the beginning and so far it keeps me coming back for more.
Two of my best books this year were The Bookwoman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michelle Richardson and The Invisible Thread by Laura Schroff. Either or both of those should get you out of your slump :)
I did read Pillars of The Earth years ago, but don't know if I'm up to a 900 page novel, but I will take a look at the other two.....Thanks
If you enjoy historical fiction circa WWII in France, I’ll recommend THE WINEMAKER’S WIFE by Kristin Harmel. Found it in the stacks and it’s quite engrossing!!!! It’s only 378 pages!!!!!! :)
Thanks Carci and Rapa! I've put holds on all 3 of your book recommendations, with winter approaching I'm hoping to have the time to read more.
Okay I have skimmed backwards the thread. Know one of you mention The Book of Two Ways by Jodi Picoult? I started it last night ...very late ...but could already get sucked into the action.
Finished Half Moon Bay by Jonathan Kellerman ...a real struggle on audiobook. Flashbacks and forwards and disguised names? YUCK
Finished The Evening and the Morning. First of all it is read by a British actor. You know their voices are so commanding. Easy to pay attention...know it is like 20 disks long...finish in 12 days.
Camino Winds by John Grisham is awaiting. Action Man couldn’t get into it but decided to grab it. Very few audio books at substitute library ...meager options. Can’t wait for new Library to open and I want balloons and wine and celebration. But it will be Jan 2021 and everyone has to mitigate our enthusiasm.
Ohio Gov DeWine has been featured on CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS...he has been so encouraging. “If you are going through Hell, keep going.” ~Winston Churchill.
Carolyn, so glad you got your hands on Jodi Picoult’s book the book of two ways! . I first read it via library book but the second half of the book was soooo very meaningful I bought a copy from Amazon! Definitely want it for my personal library! When you finish the book, Carolyn, please let me know how if effected you!
Last night finished THE WINEMAKER’S WIFE. Sentational ending!!!! If you enjoy historical fiction dive into this one!
