I adore hummingbirds!!!

You have found a tiny hummingbird nest and watched the babies hatch and fledge.

Oh. I wish!

You had birds nesting in an odd spot around your house, such as a mail box or rain gutter

OMG, I had American Black Vultures roost in my attic! Long story--they pretty much destroyed it. Now they come here every year to nest in my yard and sit on top of my house, destroying my new roof. They're a protected species so not much can be done about it. This is now, literally, the witch's house complete with vultures. Hahaha!

Sometimes you'd like to move from your home into into a tiny, indestructible metal house with no trees and Astroturf "lawn" so you would have no more maintenance. :>)

Oh, dear, sorry about the vultures.

Actually, no. I get around maintenance by being neglectful or having someone else do it. We're in a drought here and " brown is the new green." So no mowing. Soon I must find someone to paint the house though

You have aluminum siding.

Nope. Wood shingles which need replacing. Arrrgh.

Your house is relatively large and old.

yes, and old enough to have bad plumbing. But not old enough to be an historic heirloom.

You buy heirloom tomatoes when you can find them.

Absolutely!

It's interesting how many flavor differences there are between hothouse tomatoes and varieties of heirloom tomatoes.

True. I also discovered a hybrid called Shady Lady at the farmers market which is bright red and packed with flavor

You already know about Shady Lady

No, I don't think so, and it sounds wonderful. Sadly, I haven't grown tomatoes for some years.

You like eggplant.

Yes,  do.

You like okra, but conditionally

Yes, I do. :>)

You still subscribe to the general principle that 1 veggie, 1 protein, 1 starch makes a well-balanced dinner.

Yes. Is that old-fashioned now? I remember Mom's table: fried chicken,  mashed taters (and gravy), and a pile if green peas.  Milk, of course. Nowadays I see "bowls" in the frozen section,  tossed up stuff like a stew.

You tend to go easy on the carbs.
