How do you handle folks who think their way is the correct and only way and if you do something, even if it's to code, they believe you are wrong?

Unfortunately, you can rarely change their way of thinking so you have to just ignore them the best way you can but if a confrontation is inevitable, then you have two choices...quietly let them carry on or have an all out war. If it is a boss there is sometimes little you can do.  You could listen to their views, then ask them why they feel that way and then ask if they had ever thought about..............whatever your view is.  Some know it alls will listen and some won't

We have a neighbor like this.  Told us one day he's always right, even if he's wrong.  Otherwise a nice guy but some days you just want to throttle him.  As for a boss like that, I had one and I had the law on my side, that I was correct.  He used to get so mad at me when he'd complain about a certain thing in a contract and he'd bark at me about it.  My response, which was valid, was that if he read the contract he could change either by both parties agreeing to initial it and say it does not pertain to this sale or by an addendum stating the same.  He'd take deposits for earnest money which is by law supposed to go into an escrow account.  He told me that was for brokers.  I finally left, took a job for 10k less and was so much happier.

I just delete them.

I just blow them off. Consider the source.

I become suddenly deaf, or if they are really annoying and not really in my orbit...tell them to kiss off.
