Recently read a really different book MY LOVELY WIFE. If you enjoy stories about serial murders you’ll be startled at this story. Can’t remember the author but please Goggle it.
Today picked up a right off the press book THE WIVES by Tarryn Fisher. The cover reads “How far would you go to find the truth about your husband. You’ll have whiplash until the very end. THE WIVES will leave the most sure-footed reader uneasy until the last word is read.”

Haven't been around much but I do check the reads from time to time, I'll try to be more participatory. Currently reading A Beautiful Math by Tom Siegfried. Haven't read anything that great lately.
Sooooo good hearing from you, Slopok!!!!!!!! Currently I’m mostly into escape reading. Tonight will finish Jenny Colgan’s THE BOOKSHOP on the SHORE. It’s described as “a witty and warm-hearted novel.” Plan to look for more by this author.
Next up is Pat Conroy’s THE WATER is WIDE.
I too have not been checking in because I also was not receiving notifications of TBD activity in my groups, but it seems to be working now.
Just finished The Last Flight by Julie Clark; I give it 4 out of 5.
Currently reading The Fearless Benjamin Lay by Marcus Rediker, just started, non-fiction, early-American history.
Next up for me is, Plot Against America, by Philip Roth:
In an extraordinary feat of narrative invention, Philip Roth imagines an alternate history where Franklin D. Roosevelt loses the 1940 presidential election to heroic aviator and rabid isolationist Charles A. Lindbergh. Shortly thereafter, Lindbergh negotiates a cordial "understanding" with Adolf Hitler, while the new government embarks on a program of folksy anti-Semitism.
Whee, Slopok! You’re into some heavy stuff!!!! Unfortunately I can’t strain my brain these days! Good for you!!!!
Well Plot against America is not holding my interest so I started The Boy From The Woods by Harlan Coben:
A man with a mysterious past must find a missing teenage girl in this shocking thriller from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Run Away.
Thirty years ago, Wilde was found as a boy living feral in the woods, with no memory of his past. Now an adult, he still doesn't know where he comes from, and another child has gone missing.
No one seems to take Naomi Pine's disappearance seriously, not even her father-with one exception. Hester Crimstein, a television criminal attorney, knows through her grandson that Naomi was relentlessly bullied at school. Hester asks Wilde-with whom she shares a tragic connection-to use his unique skills to help find Naomi.
Wilde can't ignore an outcast in trouble, but in order to find Naomi he must venture back into the community where he has never fit in, a place where the powerful are protected even when they harbor secrets that could destroy the lives of millions . . . secrets that Wilde must uncover before it's too late.
Maybe this will keep my interest. I listened to a "mountain Man " novel last week, The Big Sky, by A.B. Gutrie and it sorta got my metabolism cranked up.
Good for you Slopok! If a book doesn’t interest me I put it down! There’s too many books and too little time to malinger!
Two of my reserves came in. Have started Michele Campbell’s THE WIFE WHO KNEW TOO MUCH. Book is described as a “decadent summer thriller about the lives of those who will do anything for love and money. Who is the victim? Who is the villain? And who will be next to die? Has kept my interest!
Also picked up John Sanford’s MASKED PREY.
I read both of those 2 Harlan Coben books last week and they both were winners... 3 days each for 600 page books so you know they held my interest. Hope you enjoy them.
I am now reading The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris, based on a true story. I always have enjoyed WWII books but thought this might be too depressing in these pandemic times when we are all feeling a little sorry for ourselves. Boy was I wrong! When I read about the horrific conditions he was living with and still finding love and joy in life it makes me realize what a bunch of wimps we are with all our complaining about how tough things are now but we sit in our comfortable homes with lots of food and TV and computers. I've decided to sit back and relax and enjoy these quiet times.
I too have Masked Prey lined up. I'm a John Sanford fan.
Had call from library today. Louise Penny’s new book is in for me! CHEERS!!!!!
My last two reserve books are awaiting me at library! They are the latest John Grisham and Jodi Picoult novels. Have 5 days to pick them up! Currently reading WRITERS and LOVERS and have another reserve also by bed. It’s Fiona Davis’s THE LIONS of FIFTH AVENUE. Going to need to do some heavy duty reading as none of them can be renewed as long waiting list! It will be done!!!!!! Are you reading anything good right now????
