TBD on Ning

Recently read a really different book MY LOVELY WIFE.  If you enjoy stories about serial murders you’ll be startled at this story. Can’t remember the author but please Goggle it.

Today picked up a right off the press book  THE WIVES  by Tarryn Fisher. The cover reads “How far would you go to find the truth about your husband. You’ll have whiplash until the very end.  THE WIVES will leave the most sure-footed reader uneasy until the last word is read.”

Carolyn, Both Loruach and I also thorough enjoyed THE TENDER LAND by William Kent Krueger. Krueger can really tell a story!!!! That’s one book that I remember!

I just started the latest John Sandford book, Masked Prey. It puts Sandford's protagonist, Lucas Davenport in Washington D.C. investigating some mysterious Nazi group on an equally mysterious web site. I'm only about 50 pages in, but it looks interesting enough to keep my mind away from COVID 19 for a while, at least.

I just finished Of Mutts and Men by Spenser Quinn, another entertaining book featuring Chet and Bernie Little, dog and man partners in the Little Detective Agency.  Light reading narrated by Chet the Jet with loads of laughs and enough suspense to take your mind off Covid and politics... 2020's dual nightmares.

Next up is Muzzled by David Rosenfelt, with protagonist Andy Carpenter... another laugh out loud enjoyable read.

I love both authors. Haven't read either of those. I'm putting them on hold right away.

Haven’t had good luck lately finding good books in the library stacks. Am still on waiting list for several on reserve. Soooo, I’ve been rereading some of my own books!  Picked up THE KITE RUNNER a couple nights ago and am thoroughly enjoying it again!  It’s so well written!  Good refreshing my memory!

It seems like the books I have reserved on my "hold" list move much more slowly these days.

As do mine, loruach!  A few have been on reserve for over 3 months~  Of course my library was closed for several months and we had to use curb service! The pandemic has taken over!    :(

Finished MRS. EVERYTHING by Jennifer Weiner and last night started MR. NOBODY by Catherine Steadman.  Have found both books good escape reading during these pandemic days. Have Pat Conroy’s THE WATER IS WIDE  as next read.  It’s described as Pat Conroy’s most extraordinary human drama—based on the true story of a man who gave a year of his life to give an island and a people a new lifetime.

What are you reading these days?

Summer is over almost...Covid action still front and center.  Our new Library is still under Construction and current one gets torn down on Monday to become a parking lot.  In meantime some inventory is being transferred to a grade school building. May have to wait for some of my Holds.

Just started 28 Summers by Elin Hilderbrand and enjoying it.  Finished The 20th Victim by James Patterson and a female co-writer.  Not his usual style for sure.

Pat Conroy is a favorite of mine.  Prince of Tides and Beach Music...both read years ago.  Carci, I also like David Rosenfelt and have listened to several of his Audiobooks.

Sold our Office Building so now moving operations to home.  I’m trying not to scream!

Good hearing from you, Carolyn!  Ironically. Last night I started Elin Hilderbrand’s THE IDENTICALS!    Read almost 4 hours as it grabbed me from the get-go!  The story is about identical twin sisters and their life and loves. Elin herself is 6 min. Older than her twin brother. Have found that Hilderbrand keeps her stories strong throughout! Have two more of her books at the ready.

Has your MIL adjusted to her new environment?  Please take good care And keep on reading!  It’s a balm for sanity!!!!

Rapa...mother in law doing great! Thanks for asking!

One other book I’m looking forward to: The Evening and the Morning

Ken Follet who wrote The Pillars of the Earth. This is supposed to be a prequel.  By the way the report says this author has sold 170 MILLION books!!!

Just finished When we Believed in Mermaids by Barbara O'Neal which caught me right at the beginning and never let up... good story and very sensual, more so than I am used to... but I liked it.

Just starting The Pull of the Stars by Emma Donahue about the 1918 pandemic. It's set in Ireland... very interesting to compare it to our current situation but a sad story so far.

Carolyn, I just ordered Ken Follet's prequel to Pillars of the Earth which is on my all time top 10 list and one of the only books I've ever read twice.  I was disappointed in World Without End so I never read the 3rd one. Hope springs eternal for this prequel. Thanks for the notice... I'm only #43 n the library wait list.
