CURRENT READS
Have been reading up a storm lately. Habitually head to bed at 11:00 pm and read until 3:00-4:00am crawling out at 11:00am. Guess it comes from years of being a night nurse! Definitely not a morning person!!
Here are the three books I'm returning to library. Still have 10 piled by bed, all of which can be renewed.
FAITHFUL by Alice Hoffman, who has never disappointed me. Her THE DOVEKEEPERS is one of my all time fav reads!
Eileen by Ottessa Moshfegh. The story revolves around a disturbed young woman who worked as a secretary at a private prison facility for teenage boys.
In a Hitchcockian twist, her affection for a new counselor ultimately pulls her into complicity in a crime that surpasses her wildest imaginings.
and a totally lovely novella (76 pages) from Fredrik Backman, the author of A MAN CALLEED OVE. The novella is AND EVERY MORNING THE WAY HOME GETS LONGER AND LONGER. This novella tells of how a Grandpa and his young grandson learn to say good-bye.

I finished " LIfe is Short but Wide...........an interesting book on recollections from a 91 year old woman with help from her 105 year old mother Another book I found interesting was The Shade of My Own Tree, a story about an abused woman who finds a way to move forward. Let's see Letters from Skye was a good book. I also enjoyed This Child of Mine........I hate to list the books I don't like, I always feel that someone liked them well enough to publish them, that it must be me that is missing something.

rapa, Read Every Morning...Longer & Longer a few months ago and loved it so much...
I think I'll buy it so I can read it over and over and lend it to friends...
I just finished A Place called Freedom by Ken Follet... If you like Pillars of the Earth you will probably like this one also... lots of violence and lust (I confess...I actually enjoyed it)... LOL
I just checked my library site and find that The Great Alone is finally in transit so I should get it soon...

A couple of days ago I came her to post a big report on what I have been reading and listening to, but halfway through something happened and it all went away. Big sad.
So here I am again to report that I'm working on the latest Flavia de Luce adventure from the library and listening to something darker by Margaret Coel on Overdrive. I'm busy finishing up my taxes today, so I'll post more later.

THE STARS ARE FIRE by Anita Shreve. (This one was a reread)
IF I DIE TONIGHT by Alison Gaylin
LIFE AFTER by Katie Ganshert
All of the above kept me reading into the wee hours. I'm finding that large print is easier on my eyes!

Just finished The Color of Our Sky by Amita Trasi. It is a first novel for her. If you enjoyed The Kite Runner and 1000 Splendid Suns you will probably like this one as well. Set in India in the late 1980's - 2007, it explores the Caste system, human trafficking and child sexual slavery--- a heartbreaking and beautiful story of an unlikely friendship --- a story of love, betrayal and ultimate redemption.

I am in the midst of The Wanted by Robert Crais. I would say it is one of his best in some time. A few days ago a finished I Know a Secret by Tess Gerritsen, also very good. I also just received an e-mail from the library that The Origin is available. So I am going to take a hike over there now and pick that one up.
Hey, are we still live? I was afraid Bookoholics was history. As long as I am "live" that is certainly good news. Right rapa?
