True. But I was never the smothering-type mom. I think a little adversity (preferably, of course, not violence) prepares children for the world, unfortunately.
You want, of course, to avoid violence, but low-grade violence doesn't necessarily terrify you when it's unavoidable.

True! What a lovely thing. My dad wasn't home much (Naval officer), so it was a special treat when he was and we all watched Bonanza together. We were living in Coronado and even our ducks would watch through the sliding glass door.
