"RABBIT RABBIT RABBIT"
SIS BOOM BAH! Almost The Fourth!!!!!

I'm enjoying a seductively funny, sharp novel by Emma Straub, MODERN LOVERS. The cover well describes this as a satisfying book about neighbors and nosiness, ambition and pleasure, the excitement of youth, the shock of middle age, and the fact that our passions--be they food, or friendship, or music--never go away, they just evolve and grow along with us. Good read!!!!

What do you have going?

That book sounds really good, Rapa.  I remembered to say Rabbit, Rabbit this morning!

I read a good one, just finished it actually:  "The Secret Keeper" by Kate Morton.  Really interesting, though somewhat convoluted (gee, I had to pay attention!) and a twist ending that's super.  I hadn't read any Morton before, but I may have to read some more of hers.

I just finished Thirst by Benjamin Warner, or more accurately, just barely managed to finish it.

The story opens with all the water burned up, gone and trees and things around it burned up as well, with no explanation or clue as to what happened. I thought maybe the main character would discover the cause later in the story but that never happened. I only kept on reading because I wanted to find out WHY, or at least a hint of explanation. But nothing. There also was no TV, radio, police or National Guard involvement or anything. The main character was unsympathetic, with he and other characters generally doing inexplicably stupid things. I also did not understand the ending. It just sort of stopped. Disappointing, because I read a review in my local paper that gave it rather high marks.

In short, I don’t recommend it at all. There, I have probably spent more time on a book I didn’t care for than those I liked. Something wrong there?

Now I have begun Redemption Road, which looks very promising.

The book I'm currently reading is listed with these 21 book recommendations for summer reading.

Have you read any of these?

RAPA...I went through your list and sort of funny as several books feature teens or 20 somethings. The reason?

I just finished a book by Nick Lake "WHISPER TO ME" . The copy was given to me by our Library along with a couple others, plus carry bag, Mac Daddy chip clip, notepad, magnifier thingy and more. The book was a preproduction proof and 500+ pages. I was grounded in care/custody of Mamsan that weekend while Jim took his special needs son camping. I dreaded opening as somehow when investigating saw the author as specializing in YA books.

Of course after 6 hours, could not put it down! Then took me 2 more nights to complete. Just loved it! Barnes and Noble only gave 2 1/2 stars? Mumble, mumble and 4 letter words to them!!!

Now, I gotta venture into more of his work? The book sort of reminded me of the one some of us read about Elephants, the girl who searched for her Mother, etc.

Gotta go Jim is nagging me to finish watching DVR of Americas Got Talent.

Just finishing up on Harlan Coben's - The Stranger, last read Sandra Brown's - Mean Streak - both good books kept my interest.  My brother in law just returned from vacation in Montana and bought me a book.  Boudoirs and Brothels by Michael Rutter.  My sister thought this was a hilarious pick - bought at Russell Art Museum.  We shall see - looks interesting to me - bet no one else has read it. LOL.  Happy 4th to all. Larouche loved your thoughts on that bad book.

I just finished a book called  What the Waves Know by Tamara Valentine..........I really enjoyed it.  It is about a young girl who cannot speak, mental illness, love, loss, lore, mother daughter relationships......and love

Haven't heard of this author, Lyn. Is this a debut novel?

Maybe a debut novel, I cannot find any more books by her, but I looked!

Thanks for the recommend!!! Our library just got it in and I should have it by Tues.
Finished Anne Tyler's latest novel VINEGAR GIRL. Delightful parody onTHE TAMING OF THE SHREW. Naturally the setting is Baltimore. Nice break from guns, blood and such!! Any one else read this??

Rather than spending the $14.95 Amazon wants, I picked up the latest Sue Grafton, "X" in her alphabet series at my local library.  I have been following Kinsey Millhone's life for so long (23 alphabet letters) that I miss the old gal.

Definitions of X: The number ten. An unknown quantity, A mistake, a cross, a kiss.

Kinsey and her friends are into their old selves which is mostly acting weird as she investigates a couple of cases that were promised will all come together in the end.  The carrot is a painting that could be worth a small fortune and a divorce that is pending.

I suspect the last two books will be "Y-Why?" and "ZZZZZZZZZ..."
