Examination of a 20-year shelf of readings is probably a pretty good indicator of a person's character but it is also akin to what Amazon is doing now.  I have been purchasing books from them for about 5 years and every once in a while they send me an individualized listing of books that I might enjoy that has been compiled through an analysis of my past purchases. I try to keep my readings eclectic and pull from both best sellers and classics.  I do keep a listing that goes back few years on LibraryThing.com. The only thing I know from a lifetime of reading is that I am pretty good on Jeopardy, when the category is literary subjects.

Pretty thorough analysis of the subject. My favorite Motivational Pundit was Jim Rohn. He writes:

"Some people say that it is okay to read trashy novels because sometimes you can find something valuable in them. You can also find a crust of bread in a garbage can, if you search long enough, but there is a better way."
