First Category: Things to do with the outdoors.

First person posts a word that begins with "A", next person posts a word that begins with "B" & so on.

The person who posts the "Z" word comes up with a new category & begins it with a "A" word.

TWIST THROWN IN ON 9/9/10: We're on a category that begins w/an "A" - how about we start choosing categories alphabetically? So the next person who posts the "Z" answer chooses a new category that begins w/"B". '-)

S - Sally Field not necessarily because she broke out of typecasting, but she did.  And she's still herself. She's good on talk shows.  She's stayed away from scandal.  She has a sense of humor.  What's not to like?

T - Tom Hanks, because he talked so believably to a basket call named Wilson

U - the only person I ever knew named Ulysses (last name Ysomething Toprotectheinnocent) - lived his life with a name like that and now owns a motorcycle shop

V - Veronica Lake, because she was sultry and wore her hair over one eye, like Jessica Rabbit

W - Whistler, James     I like his paintings.

X - Xanakis, the couple in X the book by Sue Grafton.  They both start out stupid and end up the 2 best characters in the book.  And besides, no one else was posting X.

Y - Yogi Berra, because, "It ain't over 'til it's over."

Z - Zubin Mehta, the conductor - he is sooooo cool.  In the '60s he was almost like a rock star.  I forget why but it had to have something to do with personality.  That's what we thrived on - personalities.

New category:  emotion, feeling, personality trait, etc.
