Started Mitch Albom's THE MAGIC STRINGS OF FRANKIE PRESTO. Nice, promising story.

Finished Winter Men...  Sad but enlightening WWII novel about average good Germans turned into monsters by the Nazi system.

Now reading Faces of the Gone by Brad Parks...  good mystery with an investigative reporter as the protagonist... first of several in a series.

Just downloaded an Amazon freebie on my ipad which looks very promising... Cold Fear... free today only (?)... about a little girl and her dog lost in a big woods with lots of mystery about her parents along the way... I'll be reading it next.

I just finished ALL THE LASTING THINGS by David Hapson.  It's a good read about a dysfunctional family with lots of secrets of course, that come to light. Now reading a conspiracy thriller called SANCTUS by Simon Toyne.  Too early to know if it's a keeper or not.

Last month I read Alice Hoffman's latest, The Marriage of Opposites, which was about the love affair of Camille Pizarro's parents.  Then after getting this look into the life of one Impressionist painter, my book group read light by Eva Figes, which dealt with Monet, another Impressionist.  The men were contemporaries, but the stories did not overlap.  Both books were interesting, but not for everyone.

Now I am reading Lisa Genova's Inside the O'Briens.  This story deals with Huntington's disease.  She is so informative in an easy going way.  The main character is a Irish Boston cop, so you know there is lots going on.

Life is pretty busy these days and I don't have as much time to read as I'd like.  Glad to see so many familiar names on this post.

I seldom get to check in here.I have been taking the time to get a little reading in since things have slowed down from the holidays.I ran across a book called Impact by Douglas Preston in a yard sale and couldn't put it down once I started it. At first glance, it looked like it would be just one more of those asteroid disaster stories, but it turned out to be so much more. Between the science fiction, there is governmental intrigue, murder, and yes even a little bit of romance ... All in all a very enjoyable read.

Just so y'all know, if you're looking for lots of free reading material, there's a site called Smashwords.com that is having a sales promotion where they've talked many of their authors, (me included,) into providing their books free for their read an e-book week. This promotion only lasts thru this weekend, but they always have lots of freebies anyway. Mine go back to their regular price on Monday. I have noticed that the vast majority of their books are so reasonable even at their regular prices. Just a thought ...

Everyone must be busy these days.  We are having warm days here in southwest Ohio - I have been working in the yard - not much time to read.  Read Dirty Parts of the Bible - nice change of pace and am now reading Don't Lose Her by Jonathon King.  A friend gave the book and asked my opinion when I get it finished.  The author writes about the Everglades  and has a series.  I like his descriptions and his plot has me.  Very good so far.  Anyone else read him?  Have a couple of Greg Isles books waiting - will be some time before I get my chores done enough to start them.  Hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to spring as much as I am.

Now that's more like it!!  Looks like everyone has been reading.  With 2 f2f book clubs and a neverending list of my own selections for "required reading", I'll never get them all read.  

I made the glorious mistake of signing up for Simon & Schuster's "Off the Shelf" which has a daily email, referencing from one to several related books, you can add to "your shelf".  My shelf has so many books I can' t even guess at the number. Now most of the books might be older ones, with an occasional newer book.  It is my downfall!  There are books mentioned that I should have read years ago, but never knew about.  My library probably thinks I have gone 'round the bend as I keep reserving books that they surely have to go to the main branch to retrieve!  

Speaking of newer book, I just finished "Rosemary - The HIdden Kennedy Daughter".  What a sad, sad story.

HEY!!! I posted on the March thread yesterday!!!

But, I agree, I've had "abandonment Issues" to some extent on this site! But, like Flowergram posted we went from a high of 26 degrees here in Northeast Ohio to 66 degrees in past few days....I have a Fitbit and have been FINALLY able to record some steps to be proud of!

LISTEN!!! For those few of us fans...ADRIAN MCKINTY has a new book out called Rain Dogs. I just ordered from the Library.

Action Man has been down and out with another Diverticulitus attack so my time, energy and creativity has been sidelined with caring for him.

Carolyn  I am reading Robert Dugoni - The Jury Master - you recommended him in a past post.  I am about half through the book and I really like his writing.  It just came in the library hold I had.  Thanks for the heads up.  Will be reading more of his I am sure.  Will have to catch McKinty's book also - put on my list.
