TBD on Ning

I just discovered that a movie has been made of Emma Donoghue's novel Room, and she wrote the screenplay.  It opened in selected theaters on Friday, so will have to wait until it opens here.  It also received a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

I know many of you did not read the book because of the plot, but it was a tremendously rewarding book to read and the movie is getting the same take from the critics.  I'll report back after I see the movie.  Hope I'm not disappointed.

I loved the book and certainly will see the movie.  I also read "Slammerkin" by her which is a period English tale (1700s) of women who used their wiles to earn a living.  The slammerkin was a loose gown they wore to ply their trade on the streets of London. I hope to see the movie, "The Martian," later this week, another great read I have a couple of moths ago.

I  also  read Slammer kin and also her last book, Frog Music, which is  set  in San  Francisco  in 1876.  She  certainly  knows how  to  recreate  different  historical  periods.

I liked the book and still remember the plot which is a high mark since most books I read are forgotten in less than a week.  Hope to see the movie but DH probably won't like that plot... don't know how they will be able to sustain 2 hrs of suspense with such a limited story.

Read the book. Author is amazing...who could think up those actions? I could not linger with it...read the first 1/3 of the book skipped the middle and read the last 1/3.

That being said...Jim watched Abducted in Cleveland movie...saved it for me to view. Handled it for 20 minutes and then fast forward to the end. All I can think of was those actors must have needed therapy after filming. ~Carolyn
