LORUACH, go forward with courage!!!!!!!! ;) I'm on page 633 and plan to finish it today. Had to let it rest for a few days but about 2/3 through got totally invested. Tomorrow I pick up Harlan Coben's MISSING YOU.

For those of you anticipating reading THE GOLDFINCH, I'd strongly advise that prior to reading you Google "THE GOLDFINCH PAINTING AND ARTIST". I didn't think to do it until finished and it would have enriched my reading. BTW, I consider the last chapter of the book worth the entire read!

I have mentioned it before, but I was so taken with the story that I purchased a reproduction of the "Goldfinch" painting by Fabritius, the assistant of Rembrandt, who died two years after the painting was completed. It's just a tad early, but I'm sure The Goldfinch will be my best book pick of 2014. Probably the best book I've read in ages. It could only have been written in the 21st Century but has the timelessness of a 19th Century classic. Decades from now it will be taught in American Literature classes.

I am reading Whiter than snow by Sandra Dallas. Enjoying it. We are reading Astronaut Wives for the book club, didn't care for it, and for the other book club we are reading Dandelion Summer, like it.

Just started Harlan Coben's -INNOCENT, read NO SECOND CHANCE , and have THE WOODS waiting. I also finished a book by Angela Hunt - The Elevator. Anyone else read her - good read about three women stuck in an elevator during a hurricane. My taste in reading does not always agree with others but I like a variety of books. Stacks more to get to but too much spring cleaning and yard work right now.

I am starting to reread Louise Penny's Still Life to be ready for her reread Gramache book discussion group on April 21st. Did you all get invited to join this group? I had saved all my books that I bought, and figure I can get the other ones from the library as their discussion time comes. She is one author I think I will really enjoy rereading and renewing the characters in preparation for her new book.

Note: "The Goldfinch" has won the Pulitzer Prize for Literature.

Recently, I watched a wonderful movie called "The Way" which was about an ancient pilgrimage route called "Camino de Santiago." or Road of St. James that goes from France to Spain and takes about a month to walk. The movie is free if you belong to Amazon Prime. Finished Stone Cold, the latest by CJ Box in the Joe Pickett series. I always enjoy these outdoor mysteries and the characters keep me coming back. I have read the whole series in order and each one gets better.

Then I read Catching Fire, the second in the Hunger Games trilogy. It was like reading the first book over again, not much new in it. I thought the first one was mildly interesting but have no desire to read the 3rd.

I'm now into Trust No One by Gregg Hurwitz. He has a real knack of grabbing you early in the book and not letting the action die anywhere along the way. There are still a few of his that I haven't read so I'm looking forward to a few months of good reading.

Still waiting for The Goldfinch (large print edition) at the library and also the latest Harlan Coben book.
