Today I learned a new word.  MURMURATION   Below shows examples of murmuration.  Have you learned any new words lately?

I remember reading that in a recent book. nice word... it seems to fit the species. Thought you might be interested in some other bird group names.  I like an 'ostentation of peacocks' and an 'exaltation of larks'.  These also seem to fit the species rather well.

Thanks, Carci, for posting that fabulous site for birding!  Have bookmarked it for future reference. The murmuration of starlings seems to me to be an astrodynamic miracle!

I actually had seen that video on an email a few weeks ago.  That must be where I heard the term.  lol

It's not really a new word for me, but last Monday, on the first day of my Caribbean cruise, I decided to take a hiatus (a break or interruption in the continuity of a work, series, action, etc.) from reading for the duration of the vacation.  I couldn't remember the last time I didn't read something each and every day.  But what the heck, my eyes could use the break.  Unfortunately, I didn't take a hiatus from eating an assortment of fattening foods, which I regretted the minute I got back home and used my scale.
