Both my dad and my aunt were great influences on me....but if I have to pick one....I would have to pick Dad. He was such a good man; I have never in my life met another like him.

Such nice words Karin.

My paternal grandmother. I could write a book about the reasons why.

My grandma was such an amazing woman.  I'm so glad she was in my life.

My Mom!! She is one of the strongest people I know. Unwavering and positive. Honest and funny. Kind and generous. Enabler....she enabled all 8 of us to be ourselves and explore this world to find our own strengths. Always do your best, she told us. If your best is getting all A's, great! if your best is a C, great! But, if you are not doing your best, then get busy!

I like that kind of parenting.

Unfortunately my sociopathic sister has had the biggest impact on me and the whole family; I feel sorriest of all for her 4 kids.

As to a good impact on me, there hasn't really been anyone I was ever related to that had a good impact, just some friends & best of all has been my Hubby.

My pet Bunny ...that was until

the bloody dog ate him.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr dogs.  My coon hound dog was always bringing me home carcasses.

officerripley, I understand sometimes the biggest impact isn't always a positive one.   Thanks for sharing.

Like officer, my impact was also a sociopath who was my mother, it took me till I was in my 40s to understand that it wasn't me who was broken it was her. So many bad choices made because of thinking how worthless I was.

If you've had parenting that was loving say thank you, you were given a gift of a big head start in life.

I had a father who was so great but his good impact wasn't enough to override all the bad that was inserted in my brain by my mother. I'm so grateful to have figured it out when I did.

My mom is not a sociopath, just very self-centered.  I'm not sure why I think she is going to change and so once again after spending the day with her yesterday, I came home miserable and took it out on my husband.  It never stops hurting.
