TBD

TBD on Ning

Hope y'all did your "RABBIT RABBIT RABBIT" this morning!  Hard to believe that it's November already!

I'm still reading Margaret Atwood's ALIAS GRACE and enjoying it!  The book is rather small print and 460 pages.  Am not sure I'll get through it this round.  Tomorrow am picking up three reserve books at library. Here's the order that I plan to read them:

1.  DEADLINE by Sandra Brown  http://www.amazon.com/Deadline-Sandra-Brown/dp/1455501514/ref=tmm_h...

2.  THE OCTOBER LIST by Jeffery Deaver  http://www.amazon.com/October-List-Jeffery-Deaver/dp/1455576646/ref...

3.  JUST ONE EVIL ACT by Elizabeth George http://www.amazon.com/Just-One-Evil-Act-Inspector/dp/0525952969/ref...

All three books are recently published and have a reserve list. Fortunately will have three weeks. The George book is quite long and the reviews haven't been exceptional.  The Deaver book also has not had good reviews but I do like him.  Have been to a couple evenings where he speaks and he's quite delightful!

With the holidays approaching hope everyone can find some time to escape into some good reads!

Library just called to say that KING AND MAXWELL, new release from David Baldacci is waiting for me. Plan to wait until Sat. to pick it up .  Too many of my reserves have come in all at once!!!  My cup runneth over!!!!

Just finished Linwood Barclay's book "Trust Your Eyes"  - his best book yet that I have read.  Thanks for the recommendation.  Now starting Steve Hamilton's  - The Lock Artist - also from here and on the computer - The Tehran  Initiative by Joel C. Rosenberg -

Just finished Simple Genius by Baldacci... not my favorite by him... a little confusing and contrived with lots of torture thrown in unnecessarily...  YUK!  I also have a hard time liking Michelle Maxwell, the main character in the King/Maxwell series.

I'm starting Night Work, a stand-alone by Steve Hamilton, the author of one of my favorite series.

Jeopardy tie-in:

As a lifelong viewer of Jeopardy, I was surprised with a question by Alec Trebek on yesterday's show:  (paraphrase)

What is a futuristic novel by Veronica Roth that sorts youth by the character traits, such as abnegation, dauntless, amity, etc.

Answer: "Divergent"

Just finished the book yesterday and can see where it has the potential for a great movie, which is planned for next March.

Hi, back after a long while, hubby had to have emergency heart surgery (5-way bypass) so the only thing I've read for weeks is hospital and doctor's office waiting room magazines, I miss getting to read so bad but no time, maybe some day I hope.

Before all this happened I did get to read Let It Burn by Steve Hamilton; I too really enjoyed it.  And I'm looking forward to Tell No Lies by Gregg Hurwitz; I really enjoy his books, especially You're Next.

The Lock Artist (Hamilton's stand alone) mentioned above is supposedly being made into a movie; hope it's as good as the book.

My sympathies about the c-diff; I had it too some years ago; I got it from being on antibiotics too long.

Well, better go; Hubby needs me.  Happy reading!

officerripley, wishing your hubby patience as he heals.  I, too, have a zipper.  As I recall it took about six months to get fully back into the main stream.  Surely hope he'll take advantage of cardiac rehab.  Mine was in our local hospital and I continue using their Fitness Center. Hopefully you live near a library.  As I recall, you once volunteered there. Yes, reading is a great tonic for both the healing patient and the care-giver!!!

thanx rapa wish for some patience for me too, lol. he was always such an active guy and now cant do much so hes like a caged animal, wanting me to take him somewhere, do something for him ALLTHE TIME, and ive always been more of a homebody, happiest when im curled up at home with a good bk so im getting really exhausted. and discouraged too: hes having some memory loss and mental confusion (which makes him grumpy/depressed)and we found out that thats most likely gonna b permanent; the latest research says these bypass surgerys do that and its permanent f you had hypertension for any length of time bfor the sugery and hes had it since he was 18. so dont know if i'll ever have time to read a bk again let alone go bk to volunteering at the library. (i wish the doc had warned us about this bforhand.)

Hope you both do well during the recuperation.  I am a caretaker for my husband and I know how much work it is and how demanding of time and patience.  Wish you both the best of luck and keep us posted on how you are doing.  Reading has been a wonderful life saving escape for me.  Hope you can get back to it too.  Get as much rest as you can - you are going to need it.  My hat is off to you.

Thanks, Flowergram; my hat is off to you too.  Caretakers unite!  (If we could find a minute, that is...;-)
