Well, because the old lady I take care of has taken a drastic turn for the BETTER and she only needs me basically to make her dinner, that pretty much cut my hours down to about MAYBE 12-15 a week and I am VERY BROKE!!

But I tend to not get worked up about most things and try to remain calm and tell myself it will all be fine, even though it seems like pending disaster.

SO.....TODAY, I found a place (in the phone book) I have a good chance of getting a job at and I set out to go over there and fill out an application. But as I was READY to leave, I get a call from old lady's family asking if I could get there any sooner than 3 because "Joann fell last night and got stitches in her leg."  They also asked if I could spend the night. (IN fact, by the time I leave tomorrow night, I will have been here for about 30 hours) SO, I headed right over at that point and as I reached in my pants pocket, I found a $20 bill! I needed gas but ALSO, it was Joann's 84th bday a few days ago and I wanted to buy her a piece of Chocolate Cream Pie from a local restaurant. (Sounds frivolous when I'm struggling with even coming up with a few dollars for gas but heck it is the LEAST I can do...she and her husband when he was still alive have been a pleasure to work for)   When I gave it to her, it seemed like it INSTANTLY upped her spirits as she gets so disgusted when she gets these setbacks. (She bumps and cuts her legs on a regular basis and bleeds terribly. They ALL heal and it just STARTS all over again!)

NOT that I wish her any ill will, of course BUT I have missed spending time with her as we did when I LIVED here 5 days a week. And when she saw that piece of pie, she was like a child on Christmas Morning and THAT made my day!!

Well, I think, like Kim, yesterday was a little bit "charmed". My Mostaccioli turned out perfect, and I made it to my luncheon with time to spare. Our little singing group had a performance at a nursing home after the luncheon, and we had a good turn-out. We even sang as though we knew what we were doing! Then my friend and I went to Barnes and Noble to browse through books and drink Mocha lattes and visit and laugh. What a lovely way to spend a rainy afternoon! And I found a great new book that was on sale....for $1.50! On the way home, it started raining a lot harder.....and my gas light came on! I had intended to get gas in Fredericksburg, and then it slipped my mind. I prayed all the way to the gas station, because I sure didn't want to run out of gas on US-1 on a dark, rainy night. I coasted into that station on fumes....but I made it! To top off my day.....three ladies at the luncheon asked me for the recipe for my Mostaccioli. I don't have one! Now I have to make a new batch for the Halloween party and try to estimate how much of everything I use. But I felt good that they asked. Just a good day all around.

yesterday was a gas.
