MERCY!!!!!!! It gives me the shivers!!!!!!!!
Love my tablet but I still want to have books to hold.

Here is a video showing the new library which is near San Antonio.  Of course, there's an ad prior to video, but know you can deal with it.  :)

To me it's very impersonal.  I love browzing the stacks.  Meet lots of bookies and we exchange recommendations.  The digital library doesn't give me the same warm, fuzzy feeling!

I agree; I also love my tablet but still want to read paperbooks sometimes.

YOWZA! Lip, how did you find out about this? Amazing.

Just skimming today's news.

There are a number of news aggregator sites.

I like http://popurls.com/ because it has a couple of special features

Here is another item that caught my attention today, slightly related to the subject of this thread

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/15/magazine/no-child-left-untableted...

The NYT article was quite interesting. I wonder how using e-teaching effects the dyslexic student who learns better through audible means. One teacher commented on the article: "Overall I have found that technology in the classroom - unless I am using it and we are all looking at it and discussing it together - is a barrier to creating a true learning community, where together we discuss, debate, and learn. Individual technology kills the wonderful synergy that happens."

You're right Rapa. Technology is moving fast and we are adopting it and adapting to it.
Even those who create this technology do not know how it will be used.
We need to be able to identify good practices from bad ones.
There is plenty of room for change in every step

I also love my Nook and Kindle for their convenience but actually prefer real books.  Same goes for magazines, by the way!

Wave of the future...  How Sad!

Here some of the school districts are using tablets, but they are making the parents spend $350 each to get them.

Cold and impersonal.  I would suggest another word for what it is; it is not a library.  Perhaps digitalis, digitorium or something like that.
